Publisher's summary

At age 20, Gabrielle Pelicci returned from her modeling career in NYC to her hometown of Scranton, PA, where her mother suddenly passed away. At her mother's funeral, Gabrielle had a spiritual experience that left her reeling and set her on a heroine's journey to learn about both the scientific and mystical explanations of human consciousness.

Gabrielle studied a dozen healing practices, from alternative medicine to yoga, including travel immersions in Europe, Asia and Africa.

Over the next 10 years, her complex PTSD symptoms persisted. Little by little, Gabrielle's childhood experiences of domestic violence and her parents' mental illnesses and addictions are revealed. At age 30, still grieving the loss of her mother and disgusted with the fact that she can't overcome her anxiety and depression, Gabrielle attempted to take her own life. Luckily, she survived and continued on her journey of healing and trauma recovery, earning a Ph.D. and becoming a professor of Holistic Medicine, with a dissertation on Women Healers.

In this deeply personal and vulnerable account, Gabrielle reveals how childhood trauma impacts our physical and mental health-as well as our adult relationships. She explores how you are only as sick as your secrets, and telling your story is the medicine that can save your life.

All This Healing Is Killing Me is a brave narrative that reckons with the hold of the past over the present, the mind over the body, and celebrates one woman's ability to write herself a happy ending.

Finally an authentic self-help memoir

I have been searching high and low for wellness memoirs that aren’t filled with vapid fluff. This was finally it. This author dug really deep, was actually vulnerable, shared very honestly, and made no pretenses. It was refreshing to hear a real wellness journey told in an incredibly authentic way. It was inspiring because she didn’t pretend like she had it all figured out or like she was better than her reader. She also didn’t pretend like she didn’t have it all figured out to fake humble herself to the reader. She just truly told a real story and shared about growth. She really did grow and learn so much, but never made us feel like she was more enlightened than the reader. I was also inspired by her story about all she went through to get this book published and the rejections she encountered and overcame. All in all, I really appreciated this book.

What a journey!

I couldn’t stop listening. Dr. Gabbie’s story is one of profound trauma, even more profound healing and everything in between. I related with her path and much of what she said resonated in my own life though our stories are different. I appreciate the courage and strength it took to do the work she has done and I appreciate the work she continues to do to help others. I highly recommend this book to anyone and especially to those of us with trauma in our past.

honest, raw, and beautifully written.

I bought this for a roadtrip and loved it so much that I finished it by the time I reached my destination on day one. Gabrielle tells a fantastic story about trauma and healing that left me enthralled to the very end. recommended for those who know depression, toxic belief systems and are curious about ways to heal.

Beautifully Written

Gabrielle’s writing style is captivating. She tells her story openly and honestly. As a trauma survivor who has lived a different yet similar journey of healing I was able to resonate with her journey in many ways. It’s a great read.
