About this listen

One devastating event, seven teens--their families dead--and a choice no one should have to make.

Samson has a close, welcoming family and when he, and six others, are violently expelled from the Spaceship Victoria into deep space minutes before watching his home and his family explode, Samson has no idea how to cope. And that’s a problem.

When the EV Victoria explodes, Kay gets scared. Scared because her father and step dad were dead; scared because she was locked in a tin can with six people she didn't know; scared because they had to make a choice--wait years for rescue or travel through a wormhole and into the unknown.

Kay, Samson, and the others are three years from rescue with two years of supplies. They are in a single-hulled ship designed to get them to the closest safe planet, but the Milky Way is lacking in safe planets. When the navigation computer pings to say it found a safe planet through a wormhole, the seven are presented with the promise of safety. That safety comes with giving up all hope of rescue. They will be on their own. Will they risk safety or will they risk finding a solution to their supply problems?

Written for teens and adults who struggle to read, this space adventure novella is the first in a series of five stories that have all been released. With plenty of white space, smaller chapters, and a fast moving pace, Alone contains all the elements you need to have a riveting read. Marcy RFC stated, "K J Matthews did just what an author is supposed to do with the first book of a series — gave the reader just enough information to reel them in, but not enough that the reader feels that they have gotten all they needed too from the book."
