Story
The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite - a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

Story
Everyone loves Mathias. Naturally, when he discovers it’s his destiny to save the world, he dives in headfirst, pulling his best friend, Aaslo, along for the ride. However, saving the world isn’t as easy, or exciting, as it sounds in the stories. The going gets rough, and folks start to believe their best chance for survival is to surrender to the forces of evil, which isn’t how the prophecy goes. At all. As the list of allies grows thin and the friends find themselves staring death in the face, they must decide how to become the heroes they were destined to be.

It is the year 1537. The great winged lion stares over a Venice where magic thrives. The rich Venetian Republic is a bastion of independence and tolerance. Perhaps for that reason, it is also corrupt, and rotten with intrigue. But for the young brothers, Marco and Benito Valdosta, vagabond and thief, Venice is simply home. They have no idea that they stand at the center of the city's coming struggle for its very life. They know nothing of the powerful forces moving in the background. They have barely heard of Chernobog, demon lord of the north, who is shifting his pawns to attack.

Now it’s Aaron’s job to step up, lest his death correct that little mix-up. But Aaron’s skills as a street rat run more towards stealing and stabbing than saving. The more he learns of what brought dear dead Markus to that fatal alleyway, the more he has to wonder just what the world’s savior was really up to the night the wrong boy died.

Story
You define life or it defines you. In Shawn Speakman’s case, it was both. Lacking health insurance and diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2011, Shawn quickly accrued a massive medical debt that he did not have the ability to pay. That’s when New York Times best-selling author Terry Brooks offered to donate a short story that Shawn could sell to help alleviate those bills—and suggested he ask the same of his other writer friends. Unfettered is the result: An anthology built in order to relieve that debt, featuring short stories by some of the best fantasy writers in the genre.

Good book
This second novel was even better than the first. Amalina was such a silly child who managed to get herself into all kinds of trouble while having the best of intentions. The story flowed smoothly. The performance was excellent and enhanced the story.

would definitely have used a credit
I listened to the 1st book and was looking forward to the next one. I love that Amalina has a bigger part in this story and seems to be coming into her own.
Andy Stevenson is one of my favorite narrators. I love that he gives each of the characters their own voice and brings out their personalities with the way he portrays/plays/reads them. You never have to guess who is speaking as Andy gives them each their own voice, accent and he is very good at repeating their "voices". During my time with Audible I have listened to probably a thousand books and my opinion is that the narrator makes the book, they are responsible for bringing the story alive and Andy does a great job at it. I would definitely listen to anything that he narrates.
