Marci Simon lives a double life: conservative English professor by day / controversial blogger about aliens by night. Only when a classified document lands in her lap, though, does she realize that knowledge can kill, as her two worlds collide with a virtual explosion of shocking and deadly secrets. She never anticipated the government’s nebula of dark lies, and her quest to expose the truth feels like a spiraling wormhole.
The clandestine Extraterrestrial Security Agency (ESA) has silenced others before her, but Marci is unique. She’s the key to the deadliest truth in the history of the universe, an ESA target, and the only one who can illuminate the truth about extraterrestrials…unless she vanishes into a black hole of imminent danger.
To perform the audio, 60 narrators responded to the promise of an out-of-this world conspiracy thriller and auditioned in an open casting call. Lewis Arlt leveraged his experience on Broadway and as a veteran audio performer to win the role. His elegant narration brings to life every facet of the story: the suspense of a conspiracy thriller, the strength of a single person arrayed against nefarious forces, and even the humor of Marci’s inner voice and the setting. As one listener review says, "you can practically smell the salt air of the Jersey Shore."

Our favorite moments from Among Us
Talk about "first contact"
In my role with the Audiobook Creation Exchange (ACX), Audible’s independent audiobook publishing platform, I support emerging authors and actors as they channel their passion for books and love of performance into awesome-sounding audiobooks. We recently worked with author Kristina Rienzi, who learned how to publish her alien/government conspiracy thriller Among Us as a tense and gripping audio edition. Kristina then held an open casting call to find her voice, picking narrator Lewis Arlt from over 60 auditions. I’m excited to hear how this first-time audiobook pairing brings life to the story of a blogger from the Jersey Shore who gets mixed up in a dangerous plot far bigger than she ever imagined.
Bonus: Follow along behind the scenes as Kristina learns how to cast her narrator and collaborate on her audiobook production.

About the Creator
Kristina Rienzi is a Jersey Shore–based thriller author, writing coach, and president of Sisters in Crime: Central Jersey. Kristina encourages others to embrace the unknown through her stories. When she is not writing, drinking wine, or soaking up the sun on the New Jersey beaches, she is spoiling her fur-beasts, watching true crime stories, singing and dancing to Yacht Rock Radio, or rooting for the WVU Mountaineers. She believes in all things paranormal, a closet full of designer bags, manicures, the Law of Attraction, aliens, angels, and the value of a graduate degree in psychology.

About the Performer
Lewis Arlt is a veteran actor and has been performing for 35 years on Broadway, regional theatre, and television, as well as directing episodes and penning numerous scripts for daytime soaps. He brings a seasoned professionalism to the voice acting arena with his smooth, rich, and elegant voice. In every genre, Lewis uses his powerful voice to entice listeners into the story and keep them fully engaged. Additionally, Lewis advocates for the small farm movement and local farm-to-table ventures.
This is a UFO story, which I love because I firmly believe there are, and have been, earthly visitations from outer spacelings for a long time. How else can we explain the unexplainable, whether in reality or in our preconscious imaginations? [Note: if you like this genre, the recent movie "UFO," brilliantly written and directed by Ryan Eslinger, is a must-see - it's streaming on Netflix.] [You might also want to follow Matty “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us" Roberts, a musical-festival-cum-raid scheduled for Sept. 20]
At its core, Rienzi's is a don't-mess-with-the-government story. Marci Simon, a rather unconventional woman, finds her world slamming doors of all kinds in her face after she blogs about seeing an other-world alien spacecraft which she and many others, including a retired Air Force officer her neighbor across the street, can verify. The good old government begins taking any and all means necessary to quash the sighting and the people who know of it.
The story is like a vortex that gets deeper, wider, wound up tighter and tighter, as it unfolds. We are cast into Marci's world where we empathize deeply with the tribulations and confusion she experiences, while simultaneously having every last one of our worst fears about our corrupt, secretive, people-hating government confirmed.
As I removed my EarPods, I recall thinking, "Boy, it's good thing Edward Snowden split for Russia!"
An exciting, character-driven UFO story

Marci Simon is a college English professor who happens to believe in the existence of extraterrestrials. She anonymously writes a blog called Among Us, discussing alien encounters with others through the Internet. Her neighbor happens to be a retired General who also is a believer.
Without giving away too much of the story, this book had a lot of interesting possibilities, but I will admit that somewhere along the way, I lost a lot of my believability. The buildup was good and the suspense of the early portion of the book was excellent, but the ending was a bit of a stretch (even for sci-fi). It's nearly like it became a different book at some point.
I enjoyed listening to the book, but would have liked more character development/motivation for some of the people. Somewhere about two-thirds of the way through, the good guys became the bad guys and vice versa without much explanation. Then, the ending just kind of happened and left me hanging.
All in all, a good read for light entertainment. The author does a good job with the story development and I will definitely be looking for more of her books. The narrator did a good job with the material he had, but some of his voices were a little irritating. I was given the opportunity to listen to the Audible version of this book by the author and chose to review it.
