History of Religions, Traditions and Beliefs

This book analyses the beginning and evolution of the history of religions. This approach gives the opportunity to understand the language used in religion. At some points in History, we can find persecution, repression and separation in every religion. The history of each religion is well explained, and it's complemented with the most important rituals, books and prophets. While the beliefs of religions are briefly discussed, I was expecting more details of what the Bible, the Quran, the Vedas and the Buddhist texts teach to their followers.

Interesting and filled with facts

A lot of information to cover..and honestly some of it was over my head. Maybe I'll listen to this audiobook again to get a grasp on some of the world religions I am less familiar with.

Good for basic knowledge of other religions

The narration was okay, but a little choppy at times with wildly varying tempos that were a bit distracting.

Each of the six (6) main religion essays (3 Western nd 3 Eastern) were organized in similar fashion: a quick intro of the basics, a brief history of its founding and evolution, a summary of basic beliefs and closing with where they are today. I have a lot more familiarity with the western religions, so the first half was more or less what I already knew with just a few additional details that I picked up. I gained a lot more from the second half on the eastern religions, specifically how they interacted with each other (something that doesn't get a lot of attention within works that only focus on one of them). Over all I would recommend this for anybody that is curious (and open) to what is behind other faiths and/or interested in beginning comparative religious studies to get a taste of what's to come ...

I was given this free advance listener copy (ALC) audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
