Publisher's summary

An Outlawed Heiress & Her Duke is a spin-off of the Time Travel series and follows George Astley, Duke of Aberdeen, on his incredible adventures in the Wild West. Unlike book 1 and 2 in the series, no time travel happens in this book. It can be listened to as a standalone novel.

On the day her beloved father passes away, Esther Silverton, heiress to one of the most powerful fortunes in the nation, believed her broken heart of losing her last family member was the biggest challenge ahead of her. But with her trusted family lawyer vanishing in the Wild West and her father's devious business partner stopping at nothing to use his absence to claim the Silverton fortune for himself, Esther not only has to disappear in the streets of Victorian New York, but also must find a way to disguise herself.

Poor, starving, and posing as a man, fortune crosses her path with the most attractive English nobleman who has ever stepped foot on American grounds, the stunning George Astley, Duke of Aberdeen.

Fresh off the boat, and with his own family at the brink of ruin, George is set to make his way deep into the Wild West to save his investment in a controversial gold mine—at all costs.

George is at a loss. Why does he feel so attracted to this pretty-faced, cunning guide of his? Has he lost his mind? Or is there more to this boy whose intelligence, bravery, selflessness, and kindness seem to touch the deepest corners of his heart like nobody has ever done before....

Oblivious to the fact that the street-smart guide he hired in New York is actually a wanted heiress on her own mission, the two of them set out to not only face the dangers of the lawless American frontier, but also feelings of attraction, sparks, and maybe even love…

From the Author:

Thank you for considering An Outlawed Heiress & Her Duke. If you love historical western romances, sexy dukes, feel-good romances, sizzling passion, steamy love scenes, and strong heroines, you'll love this adventurous Wild West tale of kindness and true love.

sweet love story

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. it's a sweet love story, mild in the romance and full of inclusion while mildy addressing social issues. some parts were a little redundant but overall a really good story.

entertaining story

Esther was a heiress to a vast fortune. Her father died leaving her in the care of his dishonest friend. She met George, an impoverished Duke, and together they had this lengthy adventure.

Enjoyed the way the story was narrated and the vivid details of the encounters. Both enabled me to envision what was happening which made the story very entertaining. The story had enough of theangst to keep you invested and guessing what will happen in the end. The only thing I did not like is at the end, not sure if it was right who will inherit the castle/dukedom.

Overall, great story to read or to listen to.

I have received a free copy of the audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Since I loved this story, I bought the ebook version of it too.

Captivating!

Esther Silverton's father just passed away, leaving her the sole heir to his fortune, Silverton Mines, making her the wealthiest heiress in the world. Her father's back-stabbing partner is not going to let her have the money without putting up a fight. Realizing her predicament, she goes on the run, disguised as a boy. Once she arrives in New York City, she finds it's a dangerous place to be, especially when you live on the streets. She takes some street urchins under her wing, and they become part of her daily life of staying out of sight. George is a Duke from England who is down on his luck and trying to save his sister from having to marry a monster. One of her "kids", Milton, sees someone pickpocket him and he returns the money to George. They form a bond and all three of them make the journey back to save Esther's inheritance from her father's thieving partner. It's a very good story with an eye on history, worked into a piece of fiction. This is character-driven with a good plot that steps back. The Native Americans were fascinating and their story was very emotional. The journey to their happy ending was filled with excitement, heartbreak, some levity and, always, love. Sarah Black does an excellent job with the narration. Her dynamic voice is laced with emotion and an interesting combination of accents worked to bring this story and characters to life.

good trumps greed and evil

A wealth of informative historic facts along with an interesting storyline and engaging characters. I admired the heroine's strength, morales, and integrity and the hero was every bit her equal in character. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.

Poor acting skills by the author

The accents the reader tried to portray with poorly done and distracting.
I almost returned the book multiple times because it was so awful.

It was THAT good!

Take one spunky heiress that’s been dealt a very raw deal. Add one impoverished Duke caught between a rock and a hard place. Mix in a nefarious inheritance grabber that won’t blink at “wanted, dead or alive”. Sprinkle liberally with action and intrigue drawn from the history of the American old west. Bake for eight and a half hours. Voila! There you have it! An Outlawed Heiress and Her Duke! All that’s left to do is to put on your headphones, sit back, and enjoy! And believe me, I certainly enjoyed this fantastic, cleverly written and beautifully narrated story! The characters are unique! Throughly developed, and real feeling, some I loved like Ester and her Duke, some I loathed, (nameless for fear of spoilers. I have no doubt you’ll easily pick them out!), the premise devine! I love historical fiction and everything in this one, EVERYTHING, the scene setting, the dialogue, the characterizations, all historically accurate! The plot was delicious! No spoilers, you’ll have to listen to get the goods, but believe me, you’ll be glad you did. The narration was amazing! Every word clearly spoken, the dialogue portions perfectly accented and properly emphasized with consistent pacing throughout! An Outlawed Heiress and Her Duke is truly a five stars across the board audiobook experience and I loved it!
