The Near Future
The world’s most crucial quantum computer (ALVA) is housed on a secret military installation in the Nevada desert. Colonel James Travis is stunned when the highly guarded machine contacts him directly with a cryptic message. At first, Travis suspects the communication is a hoax. Why him? He’s a doctor, not a computer engineer. As the computer’s bizarre messages persist, the colonel reluctantly accepts ALVA’s invitation for an unauthorized late-night visit.
ALVA warns him about an android plot, while the androids point to ALVA. With only days to discover the truth and convince the high command that their AI world is unraveling, Travis investigates while keeping a secret of his own – he has an unlawful relationship with Maria, one of the intelligent androids, who may be seducing him to gain an advantage.
Travis struggles to uncover the truth. In this future age, most evidence can be digitally altered in a heartbeat, but war is the same bloody horror it always has been.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Ashley Perrin is fresh out of college and starting a job as a community liaison for the Third District–the city’s only sector with more alien residents than humans. Ashley’s barely found where the paper clips are kept when she’s beset with constituent complaints–from too much noise at the Annual Lupidian Celebration Parade to a trip-and-fall chicken to a very particular type of alien hornet that threatens the very city itself. And if that’s not terrifying enough, Ashley is next up at the office karaoke night.

In a Post-Apocalyptic world of Magic and Machinery, Jack Knight is an orphan who finds himself caught between a life-altering decision. Join the military and fight the demon hordes or sell his soul to the Corpos. Both options having minimal appeal to a shut-in like Jack. Thanks to the high cost of living, and his sister’s medical expenses, Jack has never given much thought to what he’d want to do with life, always living paycheck to paycheck, scrounging just enough to keep the lights on and his sister safe. However, an Angel presents him with a third option.

Interesting look into the future of AI
Wilson has a remarkable imagination and puts it to good use in this tale of how wrong things can go when the AI-powered androids get too smart for their own good. My favorite character was Charles Harshaw.
