George Orwell
About this listen
George Orwell's timeless and timely allegorical novel - a scathing satire on a downtrodden society's blind march towards totalitarianism. The book tells the story of a group of farm animals who rebel against their human farmer, hoping to create a society where the animals can be equal, free, and happy. Ultimately, however, the rebellion is betrayed, and the farm ends up in a state as bad as it was before, under the dictatorship of a pig named Napoleon. Today it is devastatingly clear that wherever and whenever freedom is attacked, under whatever banner, the cutting clarity and savage comedy of George Orwell's masterpiece have a meaning and message still ferociously fresh.

Story
Biographer Michael Shelden called Orwell’s Politics and the English Language “his most important essay on style”. First published in 1946, the essay exploded the language trends of the time and served as an inflection point in the debate about communication in the 20th century. This collection of essays published 1946-48 provides a comprehensive critique of the status of politics and speech in the mid-century.

A Classic that Wears Very Well
I read Animal Farm many, many years ago. I had the memory of enjoying it very much and feeling that it was a true classic.
But I had forgotten many of its elements and features and wanted to have the experience again. I’m glad I did.
The story is as powerful as I remember. And so many of the details were fantastic to follow and study anew. The lessons to be learned and the historical analogues were clear and sharp. And the book was as relevant as the day it was written and the day I first read it.
I strongly recommend this audiobook. The narration is superb as well.

Great book, bad sound
The book was amazing and the narrator did a great job. The only complaint I have is with the sound. The sound goes from very loud to very quiet throughout the book, you have to continually change the volume setting even in a car.

Great thought provoking story!
I really enjoyed this story by George Orwell. Each event and the transitions/changes that took place on the farm really makes you think and question the work culture of society.
A very good read!
The voice acting was wonderful, unfortunately the editing was poorly done in chapter 7. Other than that the performance was great! I really felt the emotions of each character portrayed.

The fantastic story that describes humanity
The story reminds me of one of society in 2022. I understand that George Orwell wrote it as an allusion to the particular country in 1945, but it still fits somewhere today.

A horror story about power structures and systems of oppression
Animal Farm is a story about what happens when the oppressed work for liberation within the system that oppresses them, rather than change the system itself.
Even though it’s famously a direct commentary on Stalin’s rise to power and his totalitarian regime, you don’t need to know any history at all to enjoy the book; it stands on its own as a good scary story, with a genuinely terrifying ending.
If you are looking for a classic novel that is short and easy to read, Animal Farm is a good place to start.

scary the comparisons
I've read 1984 and could see, at the time, some obvious similarities to the current state of affairs. As time has progressed those similarities have become more obvious. Animal Farm however would have been a more insightful comparison decades ago. No matter the side of the isle with which your vote goes, you will find painfully obvious examples of the characters in this book, in your face, every day.

Editing mishaps the only complaint!
I really enjoyed this audiobook!
The only thing that I would change is the few small tweaks to the editing. A couple times, the narrator spoke over himself while a new chapter or paragraph begin while the last one was still finishing.
That aside, the narrator did this classic story justice. Thanks!
