About this listen
Find out everything you need to know about making more money, protecting your wealth, and building a future of financial freedom!
Money. That's what almost all of us chase. Whether we like it or not, it's why most of us set our alarm clocks, hopefully only Monday to Friday.
What if I told you that the flow of money is infinite, and that only a few people turn the tap on and off as they please? Yes, it may sound like a joke, a cheap parlor trick. In fact, it is not magic, although as a system it is quite elaborate.
This book will help you understand everything you need to know about money, whether you have experience in finance or you have no idea!
I'm going to tell you how it happens. Chewed up, in street language, and with as few technicalities as possible. You don't need to know anything beforehand to understand. Just listen, and not much more.
In fact, I have narrated it thinking that the only thing you know how to do with money is to earn it, save it, and spend it. Not much more, and nothing less. Like the vast majority.
I get to the point. No filler content. No fluff. We are short of time, and we are not in the mood for stories.
I will teach you to understand and control the game.
You will learn how to start standing up for yourself financially and never feel cheated again!
This book is the first of several, but with this one alone, your life will never be the same.
If you're waiting for investment recommendations, this is not your book. Not yet. If you're hoping to become a millionaire right now, it's not that either.
There are no magic pills or shortcuts here. What you will find are the economic pitfalls we tend to get stuck in, and with no way out!

Story
William D. Cohan is no knee-jerk advocate for Wall Street and the big banks. He's one of America's most respected financial journalists and the progressive best-selling author of House of Cards. He has long been critical of the bad behavior that plagued much of Wall Street in the years leading up to the 2008 financial crisis, and because he spent 17 years as an investment banker on Wall Street, he is an expert on its inner workings as well.

Story
Even after the ruinous financial crisis of 2008, America is still beset by the depredations of an oligarchy that is now bigger, more profitable, and more resistant to regulation than ever. Anchored by six megabanks, which together control assets amounting to more than 60 percent of the country's gross domestic product, these financial institutions (now more emphatically "too big to fail") continue to hold the global economy hostage.

Story
William Bernstein's commonsense approach to portfolio construction has served investors well during the past turbulent decade - and it's what made The Four Pillars of Investing an instant classic when it was first published nearly a decade ago. This down-to-earth book lays out in easy-to-understand prose the four essential topics that every investor must master: the relationship of risk and reward, the history of the market, the psychology of the investor and the market, and the folly of taking financial advice from investment salespeople.

The financial shelves are filled with books that explain how popular carry trading has become in recent years. But none has revealed just how significant a role it plays in the global economy - until now. A groundbreaking book sure to leave its mark in the canon of investing literature, The Rise of Carry explains how carry trading has virtually shaped the global economic picture - one of decaying economic growth, recurring crises, wealth disparity, and, in too many places, social and political upheaval.

In 1971, President Nixon imposed national price controls and took the United States off the gold standard, an extreme measure intended to end an ongoing currency war that had destroyed faith in the U.S. dollar. Today we are engaged in a new currency war, and this time the consequences will be far worse than those that confronted Nixon. Currency wars are one of the most destructive and feared outcomes in international economics.

Story
The finance sector of Western economies is too large and attracts too many of the smartest college graduates. Financialization over the past three decades has created a structure that lacks resilience and supports absurd volumes of trading. The finance sector devotes too little attention to the search for new investment opportunities and the stewardship of existing ones, and far too much to secondary-market dealing in existing assets. Regulation has contributed more to the problems than the solutions.

Far too many investors fail to get the results they want, because they make some pretty common mistakes. The problem is, the errors don't seem like mistakes—they seem like smart, intuitive, and/or widely recognized investing "wisdom". But much of what's accepted as investing "wisdom" is, instead, bunk.

Story
What kind of mischief can result from misunderstanding the monetary system? The work of 2 obscure Scottish chemists destroyed the presidential prospects of William Jennings Bryan, as well as Franklin D. Roosevelt's decision to appease a few senators from the American West who helped communism triumph in China, are just 2 such mishaps cited in this important work by Nobel Prize-winning economist Milton Friedman. This accessible work also provides an in-depth discussion on the creation of value.
