Publisher's summary

A lasting connection needs more than simply surviving a winter together - they’ll have to outsmart danger, let down their defenses, and open their hearts.

Owen Han has a fresh lease on life - he’s kicked cancer’s ass and is roaring through his bucket list. The former investment banker hopes to find his next challenge in Alaska, volunteering alongside park rangers and fulfilling his childhood dreams of snowy winters and rustic life. Of course, those dreams did tend to feature big strapping mountain men in vivid detail....

Ranger Quilleran Ramsey would like to be anywhere other than dealing with newbie volunteers. And really, the only thing he needs less than a green volunteer “partner” is the flirty attentions of a buff city boy who doesn’t look ready to last a week, let alone an Alaskan winter. They’re all wrong for each other, even if Quill’s traitorous body enjoys the flirting more than it should.

As the weeks pass, the two snowbound men give in to temptation. But can their seasonal romance last until spring? For them to have a future together, each will have to trust the other...while hoping that the harsh elements and omnipresent dangers don’t destroy what happiness they’ve found in the moment.

I dare to say: sweet!

As a retired mental health professional, I do applaud the author’s narratives between stars…I found it plausible and informative

Sweet and Sexy

Annabeth Albert is a favorite author and this book didn't disappoint. I love the story setting, a remote tourist area in Alaska. Lot's of realistic details, like the traffic jam caused by lines of RV's headed to an Alaskan destination, and sneaky tourists trying to camp in restricted places, and the danger of avalanches, and much more. I enjoyed visualizing Owen's first experience with the Alaskan cold and the incredible natural beauty in the area. It took awhile for Quill to allow Owen into his personal space and eventually into his heart. The back story of the two men is realistic and explains their thinking and behavior perfectly. There's some angst, but no long winded internal conversations by a whiny character and not a lot of dithering back and forth. I'm so grateful that Albert didn't overdo the angst because I get impatient when the characters act immature and refuse to communicate with their love interest. Quill had some need to engage in reflective thinking about his past experiences with people who purported to love him but let him down. He did the internal thinking and was able to communicate with Owen rather than prevaricate.
Iggy Toma was a good narrator for this book, not over the top when emotions ran high, and he differentiated the voices of the different characters well. His narration added to this engaging book.

An Alaska Romance

Owen was working through his bucket list after winning a bout with cancer. Quill was a grouchy park ranger who was not looking for any relationship even friendship. But winters are cold and feelings are growing. Great performance and story. Recommend Author.

Good book!

Good story, but my least favorite of the three. Still very sweet though. Definitely worth the read.

Great continuation

This one has the barest link to the first too and can be read as a stand alone with no problem at all. This is a sweet slower build, I love how their relationship developed maaaaaybe it dragged a little too long cause I really wanted to hit them for all their great communication they never told each other the important stuff but overall a really great listen with a great narrator.

📖 Story comment: Good pace, likeable characters, nice flow.
I enjoyed both Owen and Quill's characters and just wanted to give them both a big hug!
I liked that the characters in this book are a little bit older and aren't perfect.
I also enjoyed that this book was more about the story and less about the sexy times.

🎧 Narrator comment: I enjoyed Iggy Toma's narration, he suits the characters, has good cadence, inflections and intonations and it's easy to distinguish the characters from each other. Overall an enjoyable performance and he bought the characters of the book to life

Enjoyed this story

I liked this book almost as much as the first in the series. I was invested in these characters from early on. Annabeth Albert always gets to the emotion of her characters - flaws, wounds, and all. It never feels like they’re acting simply to move the plot along. It feels organic.

I don’t always love Iggy Toma. If he was always as good as this performance, that opinion would change. He was solid. He delivered a range of emotions through many difficult scenes, and his character voices were good enough I was able to forget who was reading and sink into the story.

Yes, this audiobook is worth a credit.

I want to see Alaska!!!!

I really enjoyed the setting of this book. Alaska sounds beautiful, cold and a little scary. Owen the volunteer is a fun loving character. He works with Quill a grumpy closeted ranger. They end up roomies and Owen eventually breaks through Quill’s stubbornness. I enjoyed this story and had not read the first two. I am a huge Iggy Toma fan so that was a big plus for me!!!
