About this listen

Talia could scarcely believe that she had finally earned the rank of full Herald. Though this seemed like the fulfillment of all her dreams, it also meant she would face trials far greater than those she had previously survived.

For now, Talia must ride forth to patrol the kingdom of Valdemar, dispensing Herald's justice throughout the land.

But in this realm beset by dangerous unrest, enforcing her rulings will require all the courage and skill Talia could command - for if she misuses her own special powers, both she and Valdemar will pay the price.

Well worth the credit

I read these books many years ago and was delighted when the arrows of the queen trilogy became available. I loved the narrator 's accent for Talia.

Drawn In

I love this book series. the person who voices this story has a way of drawing you in to the story's depth. so much so (I live in Al ....hot weather) that when they read the winter description I bundled up. when I got outside I was le what the hell it's supposed to be cold!

So worth it.

An Arrow to the heart

I started reading Mercedes Lackey in 1986. Over the years I’ve waited eagerly for every new book and devoured then, then waited for the next. But in that time I’ve also revisited my first meeting with the Heralds and Talia. Hearing the narrative brought to life in spoken words is like getting introduced to Valdemar all over again. Thank you Ms Lackey for the years of laughter, tears, and love.

Great story, Great narrator. It's just great!

I love this series. The narrator has a wonderfully soothing voice and does excellent characterization for everyone. The pacing is very good, highlighting the important parts while also jumping months at a time. It does feel a bit rushed at the end as most of it is wrapping up some loose ends, but it's all enjoyable to read/listen to.

Survival At Many Levels

Talia has a great gift, if she can survive it without adequate training. Her and her Herald companion must survive a winter and simultaneously survive the training of her power.

Love the story, reader not so much

I have adored this trilogy since it first came out, and have been a devotee of the Valdemar books ever since. Unfortunately, I really don't care for the British accents adopted by the reader . They seem very jarring to me, and not anything like the voices in my head. Sorry.

Enthralling experience

It was very hard to not get caught up in this tale of a personal struggle to overcome & then develop their true potential gift. This author's ability to put you into story is uncanny, but really makes the story come alive for you at a deeper level.
