Great Christian Novel

Would you listen to Asher again? Why?

I really enjoyed this book, I have started listening to the second book in the series which includes Asher and I really like the character.

What about Cameron Beierle’s performance did you like?

There was a lot of empathy described throughout the book.

Any additional comments?

I would rank it among one of the best Christian novels that I have listened to. I have started to listen to a lot throughout the last year and I thought most where really good. I really liked this book and the next in the series, I look forward to listening to the third in the series.

good story, rough narrator

What made the experience of listening to Asher the most enjoyable?

the story is pretty good except for using the name Jesus as his Greek name instead of Yeshua when none of the Greeks had heard of him yet. most of the story adhered to the biblical accounts, except for that blatant error. the narrator was a piece of work though, stopping after every phrase as if it was the end of the sentence, mispronouncing common names like Bethlehem, and a few other idiosyncrasies that made it difficult to listen to.

What other book might you compare Asher to and why?

na

How could the performance have been better?

teach the narrator to read smoothly.

Who was the most memorable character of Asher and why?

asher - throughout the story. fairly credible character.

Narrative and conversations are not genuine.

Roman soldiers being the tip of Herod's spear in BC 6 or 5? Not historicaly accurate. Herod had his own forces for dirty work. I didn't like the characters or how they were developed. The narrator is lacking skill and depth in his elocution. I'm sorry I used a credit to buy this.

This is awful to listen to

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The reader sounds like Paul Harvey, I keep waiting for him to say "now this is the rest of the story." There is no flucturation in his voice, and I wonder if it would have been better to have a femail read it.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Nothing from the First Century Heroes

Would you be willing to try another one of Cameron Beierle’s performances?

no

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I only could stand about one and half hours into the story, so no.
