Publisher's summary

An Officio Assassinorum story.

On the Knight World of Dominion, a Vindicare and a Callidus Assassin are tasked with eliminating a seditious leader and safely steering a pro-Imperial candidate to the throne.

Listen to it because....

Kingmaker shows the fascinating relationship between two very different temples of the Assassinorum, as two agents navigate the complex social hierarchy of a Knight World. The stakes are high and the pressure is on, for an Imperial war effort hinges on them executing their duty before disaster strikes.

The story:

The Officio Assassinorum safeguards the future of humanity. Its agents are the bloody-handed, secret saviours of the Imperium, killers charged with achieving the impossible...and Vindicare assassin Absolom Raithe has just been handed the most difficult assignment of his career.

The Knight World of Dominion is on the verge of seceding from the Imperium, its court riven by factionalism and ruled by an increasingly unhinged monarch. With the aid of the shapeshifting Callidus assassin Sycorax, Raithe must remove the king from his throne—and safely steer a pro-Imperial candidate to victory through the brutal succession crisis that will inevitably ensue. His team will need to infiltrate a world steeped in chivalric codes, where every move risks discovery and every threat pilots an adamantine monster...for if the assassins fail, and Dominion falls, the entire sector will be plunged into darkness.

Assassins and Knights: Better Together.

Have no fear of a boring and stuffy warhammer-knight's tale, the assassins have 'eliminated' that problem. The two main factions in this book are expertly coupled for an engaging and fun page-turner. The voice actor's narrator voice is very good. He also does male character voices well. One female voice was nasally/lispy (to be distinctive I assume), and that one occasionally grated on my ears. But it wasn't a bad performance at all. Overall, job well done by both the author and the voice actor. 🍻

Loved it!

Warhammer 40K meets James Bond plus a little extra Tudor drama, an excellent read

Incredible story, a must read for Imperial Knights fans

Robert Rath knocks it out of the park again with this epic tale of assassins and Knights. If you enjoyed The Infinite and The Divine then absolutely give this a shot.

Excellent, I hope to read more like this.

Really enjoyed this book. This one marks my 40th 40k book and it was well worth it.

I really appreciate the detailed description of combat, describing exactly what moves and what shots the characters took, instead of the lazy, “He hammered him with a storm of blows!” It made the assassins feel like experts in what they do.
I also liked the use of correct weapon terminology. I don’t understand why it’s so hard for authors to know the difference between a magazine and a clip.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the reader, a bit dull.

Also, I had a bit of trouble keeping up with the names of all the minor characters. Audible could do with an index of characters, since we never get to actually see them written out.

Overall: 9/10

I love this book

The story overall is excellent, the VA does fantastic voices, and manages to make every voice unique, although personally, the voices for some of the nobles tend to blend together a bit, but overall the voices are fantastic. The book itself is just perfect, if you’ve never experienced anything related to 40k, then I would recommend this book, if you’re a 40k veteran, I’d still recommend this book

An Unexpected Gem

I mostly picked this up to see more of the Assassinorum, but the Knights featured really made an excellent addition to what I was expecting to be a standard assassin book

My favorite 40k book

Started my crippling knight addiction, when I went in expecting to love the assassins more.
