Very Moving

If you could sum up At Last, Goodbye in three words, what would they be?

If I had to sum this short story up in three words they would be dramatic, emotional, and heart-felt. This was a very nice piece of work.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was the one speaking. The Outrider.

Have you listened to any of Andrea Emmes’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes indeed I have listened to other work by Andrea Emmes. She has a powerful voice with great characterization skills. This one is another work that showcases those skills.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I'll leave that question blank so as not to give away the story.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this work by Glynn James and I would also like to see this work made into a longer production. It was very good.

I received this audiobook foc in exchange for an unbiased review.

Interesting Short Story

Very interesting short listen and the narration was great~so much emotion. Wish it had been a little longer. Not my usual genre but I enjoyed listening.

Glynn does it again

Would you listen to At Last, Goodbye again? Why?

The narration was fair to good. I think next time I'll read it.

What other book might you compare At Last, Goodbye to and why?

Could this be the same dystopian future in Thrown Away? Interesting.

How could the performance have been better?

The words were there, but a little more emotion in the reading would have gone a long way.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

As with Thrown Away, Glynn James knows how to work the reader's (or listener's) emotions.

Any additional comments?

The story is fantastic, the narration could have been better. If anything, it took a little away from a moving story.

I'd rather it not be a short story

Great idea with a lot of potential, then it was over. I also prefer happy endings.

An Emotional Ride

Where does At Last, Goodbye rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top 20 (Which is actually high, as I've listened several hundred great audiobooks)

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main 'narrator' of the story. Very emotional and very full of life

What does Andrea Emmes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A tremendous amount of emotion and passion. Andrea's narration brings this piece to life as it should be. She's very obviously a gifted storyteller, and seems to be able to reach inside herself and pull out the 'soul' of the characters she's voicing. She does a great job of grabbing the listener and engrossing them into the story, and then delivering on the promise of taking us on a journey.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending. Very emotional and important. I won't give anything else away!

Any additional comments?

Although a short story, this piece is packed full of imagery and emotion. I would love to see this concept developed into a full length novel, narrated by Andrea. Andrea is, as mentioned above, a very gifted narrator and I look forward to hearing more from her.

Great little read

This was a really awesome short read. It is connected to a series that is set in a post Apocalypse zombie filled world. I do not think I would be interested in that series, but this short story is fantastic. It is so compelling and heartbreaking.

The way the story unfolds, you get little by little of the end game for the story. It is all in first person narrative, like the narrator was talking to someone. It would be an interesting monologue if anyone were interested in performing it.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Andrea Emmes, who is terrific. She has a great tone with a hint of sass. Her pace is very conversational , which fits the words perfectly. The whole read is well done and flows beautifully. The end was a bit rocky for me, the emotion felt forced and a bit too dramatic. It will be interesting to see how this narrator handles a longer read.

Loved This story

This story has more heart and depth than the ocean is deep. It is set in a diray style and by the end of the short story I was in tears. It is so bueatiful. The narrator Andrea Emmes tells the story. Her youth and emotion is in her voice made this a real pleasure to hear. This is a short story that is to be picked up, but better herd

WOW

Any additional comments?

WOW! I am amazed at how quickly I was taken in by this book. It may only be a short story but the Author was able to write volumes into the few short chapters. The narrator had me from the start with her emotion filled voice that made me feel her anguish. Both author and narrator made this book come alive for me!
