About this listen

After my medical discharge from the Army due to a brain injury, I’ve had to reinvent myself. Not easy when I can’t even remember what I ate for breakfast.

Or the hot, older guy I went home with. Oops.

When I run into him a second time and hit him up as if we’ve never met before, Jarek’s a little insulted. I can’t exactly blame him. But when he learns my memory is shit, he seems flattered I’ve picked him up twice.

And he’s all in for hooking up again. And then again. Our chemistry is off the charts.

We’re just friends with benefits, nothing more. I want to take my time exploring who I am, and Jarek wants the happily ever after and white picket fence.

But the more time we spend together, the more I question if it’s really only friendship I want from him. I’m getting awfully attached. Could it be we want the same thing?

Bean is the second book in the Honorably Discharged series, featuring a sweet guy who’d forget his own name if he didn’t write it down, a guy who thought he’d never find love again, found family, an age gap, friends-with-benefits to lovers, hurt/comfort, and a steamy happily ever after.

A great story!

This was a really touching story. I loved how Jerek took such good care of Bean. This is a great series with realistic characters and the problems they have.

John Solo gives another great emotional performance and I loved listening to this story.

Great storyline and narration. 🌶️🌶️🌶️

As always Nora Phoenix writes great stories and characters. This series is great, but the individual stories are a little short but you definitely get immersed in the world. John solo hit it out of the park again too. All of his narration is great. Spice is about 3.5-4🌶️ with some sexy time scenes in the mid to end of the book. Definitely worth the 💰

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧 Enthralling & Moving!

It is great to be back in Nora Phoenix’s and E.M. Lindsey’s “Honorably Discharged” world again for another fantastic novel and I loved everything about it, from their wonderful writing style to the fabulous characters and storylines they created to the perfectly cast narrator who brings it all to life from the pages to your ears. Each book in the series features different member of a found family of Army veterans and to get the most out of the incredible world building and character development I recommend enjoying the series in order written, not a necessity, but the characters crossover into each other’s books and knowing their backstory will add depth. This second book of the series is Bean and Jarek’s story, a story that captivates your attention the entire time and tugs at your heartstrings, too. You can feel how much heart the authors put into their work as the emotions pour off the pages and straight into your own heart. Severely injured while serving, Bean, a survivor, is learning to live a traumatic brain injury, and he has a great support system by his side, including Nash, who he served with and is like a big brother/father figure to him. I loved how gentle, patient, and caring Nash was with him and I can not wait for him to get his own story with his special someone, too. After his recent divorce and being laid off from his job, Jarek is starting fresh, renovating a new townhouse to live in, and starting a new job. Not wanting to get into another relationship so quickly, he goes out looking for a hookup at a local pub, where Bean was just hired to work as a cook. After confiding in Nash and coming out as bi, which was difficult because of his strict religious upbringing, Nash encouraged Bean to put himself out there, and he felt an easiness with Jarek and an instant connection, too. Jarek was great with Bean, understanding and comforting, but since it was only a hookup, they did not make further plans, besides Bean knew he would not remember him or their encounter, anyway. Except that was not the last they would see of each other, a second meeting was awkward at first, since Bean did not remember him, but all was well after he explained about his TBI. I thought these two were great together and for each other and loved watching them get to know each other, navigate a new relationship and watch it morph into something so much more. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, with a touch of angst, some charming and heartwarming moments, lots of heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. Nora Phoenix and E.M. Lindsey, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And what makes this amazing story and collaboration even better is having a wonderfully talented and entertaining storyteller deliver a top-notch portrayal of each character. John Solo not only humanized these characters with their personality, but he gave each a voice that was fitting, sounding believable, and just as I imagined they would sound. He has an extensive range of voices and his ability to voice each character differently makes it easier to follow along and tell who is who, which is especially perfect with the back-and-forth dialogue that he delivers effortlessly, never missing a beat. Just like the authors, you could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he captures all the characters’ emotions and has you feeling them all. John Solo’s enthralling performance brings you into the story and keeps you there straight to the end. Thanks for another fabulous listen.
