Snake oil, anyone?

Write your problems down on a scrap of paper. Tear the paper into bits and flush it down the toilet. Ta DA! Your depression is cured. You're welcome!

I should have rated this book higher because I think it's going to become a cult favorite of mine. It is such incredible nonsense. And it's actually written in a sort of infomercial-ese that makes it sound even more like snake oil than it actually is.

Look in the mirror and imagine yourself happy.
Clap your hands together to increase your energy.
Listen to some upbeat music.
Eat right
Exercise.

If any of those ideas have floored you with their insight, by all means, buy this book.

If your meds are kicking in and you want a good laugh, you might also enjoy it.

If, however, you're in a bad slump and looking for genuine hope, I wish you something infinitely better.

Well worth the fee

Quite a good CD - not too complicated but you do need to have pen and paper to hand. Some very good ideas overall.

Like being at an Amway meeting

I'm sure this book is just what some people need ... it just wasn't what I needed. It felt more like a "Rah Rah" Amway meeting or a high school pep rally than a book on depression. I found I stopped paying attention to it after about 15 minutes, and stopped listening to it after 30 min.

Your milage may vary ... I appreciate what the author was trying to do and maybe it will ring true for you ... but not for me.

I didn't think I'd like this but...

Paul Vincent's audiobook delivers a lot of very helpful advice crammed in a small package. I've done some of the exercises and intend to do them all but I can tell this has made a significant difference for me. I heartily recommend it. (Despite the ghastly cover art.) Love the british lady reading it too by the way...

A new slant

The author aproaches depression from a direction that I've never heard before. It makes a great deal of sense and I bleieve that anyone who actually applies the strategies included in the book will find their depression improving. I've listened to the book several times while driving, and felt the need to sit at a table and follow the instructions exactly. I plan to return to this book over and over again whenever I need it. The narrator was excellent. I highly recommend this book for anyone who struggles with depression or who has someone close to them with the problem.

Sen-sa-tion-al

I've listened to this book through about 3 or 4 times. Each time it totally changes my mood and outlook. I love the down to earth tone of the author.

This is a keeper!!!

At first, I was very skeptical about this book; it seemed too simple for something very serious and complex. How wrong I was! "Beat Depression" will provide you with some simple suggestions that can improve your mood instantly in 100%!!! The listening was also very pleasant. I should tell you that the book is read by a Britanic native - because I am learning English in US, it was harder for me to understand it. Other than that, this book is awesome! Thanks, Audible.com!
