About this listen

Kesa Sapiro had to grow up fast. With her parents gone and a little sister to protect, Kesa has spent over a decade of her life trying to keep a roof over their heads. She's learned the hard way that love is a luxury and that the price is way too high. When her sister Josie announces she wants to marry a boy she's known for less than a month, Kesa immediately forbids it.

Shannon Dealan is floored when her son-by-choice says he wants to get married to a girl he's just met. Shannon has real reason to scrutinize any strangers who come into Paz's life. She's not about to let him do anything stupid - and that includes believing in love at first sight. She knows too well there's no such thing.

Hoping to soften the objections of their jaded, overbearing elders, Josie and Paz arrange for them to meet and discuss the future like civilized adults...but absolutely nothing goes as planned.

Cute Story

This was cute. Kesa's younger sister and Shannon's son-by-choice want to marry, but their too young. Aaaaand, as it turn out, Kesa and Shannon have history themselves! the irony was not lost, but it really did add to the storyline. This would make a quick, easy read if you're looking for one.

Very enjoyable character-driven story!

It was enlightening reading about the Filipino customs and all the different foods, and learning about the lives of a clothing designer and US Marshall Analyst. I very much enjoyed the dialogue and the connections between the four main characters and the secondary characters. The narration by Abby Craden was superb!

When faced with magic- do you discount it or believe it?

Two couples face this question and in order to get answers, everyone has to do some growing. Our leading ladies have tremendous chemistry and there are a lot of funny moments as well. The narration is good, though I am starting to wonder if I will hear Ms. Craden’s voice in my dreams! The writer takes us on a wonderful journey of questions and answers, tragedy and triumph, where wisdom is not dependent on age. You will enjoy this one!

Something Wonderful and Different

I have never met a KK book I didn’t like, and most I have loved. This one is no exception. Loved the diversity in the story - immigrants,
characters of color, ethnic foods, families struggling to get on their feet financially and not coming into the story wealthy and living at the higher rungs of society. Loved it.

Learn from the young...

Loved this book, it has a great twist, it is well told and loved the characters, I would have loved to know about the last dress made in it... and Abby Craden as usually made this book even better.

Abby rocks!

Abby was amazing! The story was cute! I liked how everyone wasn’t white, and rich.

Hope there's another installment

This book has great potential, however the ending was rushed and a lot was just left up in the air. I feel the conflict lasted way to long with a very short resolve. the narration was great as usual for Abby Craden . please don't take my word for it. give it a listen and share what you think as well.

Good story. Not a fan of narrator

I don’t get why people like Abby craden so much. Her delivery of the story is not very good and also hearing her taking deep breathes all the time does not sound good.

Great.

I loved Because I Said So. A great topic, 2 young lovers who want to marry. NOW. The two adults in the picture need to keep their heads. Abby Craden does her usual fabulous job with the narration.
