Rick Napier is a fisherman struggling to make ends meet. The situation is made even worse when a local fishing vessel mysteriously disappears, along with a Coast Guard diver sent to search for the wreckage. As events unfold, he confronts the horrible reality of a top secret government experiment gone haywire, resulting in a hybrid creature of massive proportions. Escaped from captivity in a high tech facility in the Atlantic, it seeks to fill an insatiable appetite. Napier’s life turns upside down as he witnesses the carnage and devastation, and is forced to confront a Behemoth more terrifying than anything imaginable.

Sure it's a bit smarmy with simplistic, sometimes annoying characters. Bad guys who nearly scream out "I'm the Bad Guy!" when they are introduced. Other characters also yell things like "I'm the female Interest!", "I'm a gold hearted friend!" and such.
Behemoth is a tale that's never too complex or confusing.
However, there is a creepy dangerousness to Michael Cole's monster in this book. It's freshness makes it "weird" and that's very good to find in a monster. I found my breathing & my heart racing when book environs & characters were being destroyed. This monster is hell bent on survival and there are poor few things that can stop it. And... that's how I like my monsters.
Dear Mister Cole, can you tell me another one? Please?
Khai Lannor is a top rate narrator who never gets in the way of the tale ( thank you! )
