About this listen

She knows everything about you… and she’s about to share your deepest, darkest secret.

Alice has everything, I mean everything. A stunning suburban house, Instagram-perfect in its soft grey walls and textured neutrals. And then there's her handsome husband, with his flat stomach and that sexy sleeve of tattoos he keeps hidden for his well-paid job in the city. The PTA mamas can't stop staring at him, and who can blame them? And let's not forget her three adorable, well-behaved children.

Meanwhile, here in Boston, I'm struggling to start a family with my husband Ollie. Our marriage is suffering, and I feel so isolated all the time. It's hard not to compare myself to Alice, especially when we unexpectedly reconnect after two decades of silence. I can't help feeling I've been dealt the inferior hand in life.

The worst thing is, I know Alice doesn't deserve any of it. I was once her very best friend in the world, and I know the real Alice better than anyone else.

And here’s me thinking… I know where the bodies are buried, literally. Maybe it’s time to make her pay?

This gripping tale of friendship, love, betrayal, and revenge is full of twist after brilliant twist. It will keep you reading late into the night, perfect for fans of Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train, and The Woman in the Window.

Great idea plot twist!

I loved the back and forth f Evie and Alice. The cat and mouse game was very engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot twist towards at the end. Great listen!

Not great

Decent but not the best entertainment-wise, a little disappointing at the end of the story

Tamsin Kennard’s narrative talents!

Tamsin Kennard’s narrative talents!
Another appropriate title could have been “The Many Faces of Evie.” Kennard had me audicted from her very first line. From her UK to US diialects, she goes above and beyond. In addition to sadness and heartbreak, there are also silly moments that made me giggle through each quirky character. I have a vast collection of her audiobooks and for good reason. My first by author Rebecca De Winter is a welcome choice and I'll be searching for more. I often search by narrator {{{Kennard}}} and have found a spectacular collection of hidden gems. I do so love my British psychological thrillers and right now I'm hooked! Worth a treasured credit. Epic, I say!

Held my attention from the beginning

Smart, twisty and juicy story line. I’ve listened to hundreds in
This genres and this is a front runner. Worth the credit for sure. Excellent narration!

Had to keep repeating

Just left me a bit depressed about humanity. All the characters were horrible - no joy or optimism and the fate of new generation was pretty grim

Not for me

For me the book was a bit weird. It was a bit all over the place and at the same time, I could see the twists coming.

There really iwad no likable character, but I understand there wasn’t meant to be. I would have liked to hear more from Alice, it was a bit one sided.
Overall it was ok, not sure it was worth the credit, however.
