Publisher's summary

For a family trying to make an isolated farmhouse into a home, fear and rage are getting harder to control in a primal short story by the New York Times bestselling author of Whisper Network and Cutting Teeth.

The Strauss family is on knife’s edge. Sam is a resentful stay-at-home dad. Rachel feels the restlessness in her blood returning. Their children are getting out of hand. And a recent mudslide has forced the wolves out of the woods to look for food. As dusk falls and tensions rise, the family must come together to survive the night—from the threats outside and those within.

Chandler Baker’s Big Bad is part of Creature Feature, a collection of devilishly creepy stories that tingle the spine and twist the mind. They can be read or listened to in one petrifying sitting.

Great horror short

I really liked the story and narration of this relatively quick listen. Good tension & suspense. I have not read this author before but will look for her other books.

Good story

Parts with the kids were annoying at times and the unnatural way Sam handled Hank at first is why I knocked off a star.

Till Death Do Us Part

Oh my, Odie is my fave. This was fabulous. Although I didn't much care for Rachel.

Don’t miss this quick read.

Great little 2-hour book.

Had me going there for a while. The last pages had me wondering how it’d end.

Recommended.

WOW…

This new take on a classic horror trope drove me to the very edge of my senses. Kudos also go to the top notch performance!

Spoilery title and cover! Arghh

Sadly, this is it.... the last book in this terrific Creature Feature Collection. I must say, I'm impressed with them all and can recommend them if you like scary/horror or just want something spooky for the season.🎃💀 🍬

Rachel Strauss is an anthropology professor. Sam is a house dad and they have two young daughters. The Strauss lives in a charming old Oregon farmhouse at the end of a long gravel road. There's a guy who visits and says he's their AirBnB guest.

Something is off with everyone!

Great writing and misdirection. I like the little surprise at the very end, otherwise, I sort of guessed it from the title and cover. NO! Don't look if you haven't already.😉

Very good

This was a dry good and well written story. It was only about novella length but felt like a fully fleshed novel. I had never heard of the author before this but I’ll be looking for more in the future.

Unique werewolf story

This was a unique short focused on werewolves and how in a more modern setting, one might have to live. I wished for more at the end though, it felt a little unfinished.
