Publisher's summary

She walked away from him 10 years ago. Not even a rocking body and a sweet smile can change his mind now.

Blue Brigham was the man of the farm from an early age, so it was easy to get swept up in his older-than-his-years charm all those years ago. But when it came down to it, legal wasn't enough to keep a town like theirs from talking, and Harper Haley just wouldn't risk going public with their brief affair. She'd packed up and left town to marry another man her own age, thinking she'd left the past behind.

Blue thought he knew what he signed up for when he moved his sister back in at the farm after her husband left her for another woman, but when Harper shows up shortly after, he knows he's in for trouble, still holding onto the grudge from all those years before when she left him like he meant nothing, to be with another man. Trouble is, she looks better than ever, and she's not going easy on him. Not even a little bit.

She walked away from him 10 years ago. What will it take to melt through his defenses for a chance at redemption?

My Thoughts on Big Man Blue

3.5 of 5 stars

This was my first Nicole R. Locker story and it was definitely one that can hold a readers attention. I would consider it a second chance romance since the two main characters had history, but it also had a bit of enemies to lovers feel because of Blue's feelings towards Harper in my opinion.

The animosity and angst between these two characters was completely understandable given their past and even when more facts came to light, I still understood Blue's anger and kind of sided more with him. It was all well told and I was happy with the ending, but if I'm honest I wish Harper had more of a backbone ten years ago (in the past). I wish there had been a little more to the reason why they aren't together at the start of the book, even if it was a huge misunderstanding or a scheming or catty other person who could have interfered. Even if it had all been something that could have been resolved with a real conversation to explain things I think I would have preferred that a bit more than just a character refusing to stand up for what they want. Maybe if this was a book that was meant to be set in a time where things like this were common place I would have understood but I didn't get the impression it was.

The narration for this story though? Once again Tor Thom and Charley Ongel were great. I love their duet narration. They always sound like they've been doing this forever with how smooth and immersive their performance comes across. I always know exactly who's speaking because they give their characters different tones and of course I just love listening to Tor Thom speak. He's got one of those voices.

I was happy to have a chance to be introduced to a new author through narrators I love to hear. I would definitely enjoy listening to the next in this series, others by this author and of course I always need more from these narrators.

Big great audio

This was a wow listen. It grabbed you from the first just wondering who is going to crack first .
Hero is Blue. Heroine is Harper .
This audio is a friends to enemy to lovers story. It’s also a younger man to older woman story . It’s also a secret love affair at the time Harper is Blues sister best friend. Once upon a time both Blue and Harper were in Love then Harper took off After 10 yrs Harper shows up again . Blue sister asks Harper to stay at their homestead. Blue doesn’t know how to take Harper staying so close to him.
Slowly as days pass Blue finds out Harper had no choice but to leave.

Tor Thom and Char.ey were beyond fantastic. They played the characters and emotions so real , you felt like you were right in the story . It was my first story from the author

Who wouldn't want a second chance at love?

What a sweet, heartwarming story! Second chance is my fave trope and that combined with older women/younger man and a bit forbidden (sister's BFF). Yes! Yes! Yes!. Big Man Blue was a wonderfully romantic story about love and the power of forgiveness. Narration was perfect and fit the story. Tor Thom as cowboy, Blue Brigham...yes please!

Harper and Blue

I loved this story. I loved how it actually had 3 main characters but was not a sexual book. This is a great second romance through and through and narration was excellent as always.

Second chance at love

This romance is chalk full of themes and situations that stir up all your emotions. The tropes in this book are many; Best Friends brother, younger man with older women, second chance Romance as well. Almost an enemies to lovers as well. So if you’re into any of these, you’re going to love this audiobook.

As for the narration, I really, really enjoy listening to these two do dual narratives, they just work so well together and I find myself listening to their voices just as much as the story. So again if you’ve listened to any book narrated by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel then you know you can sit back and enjoy this story.

Overall a great way to spend time learning about the past for Blue and Harper, and there was a surprising twist in the story too, which I didn’t see coming that had my jaw hitting the floor. 5🌟 all the way.

This review is based on an audiobook that I received from Tor Thom. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complementary receipt of it, in no way affected my review or rating.

One of my favorite tropes!

Nicole R Locker has given a second chance at love a new twist! Blue at a young age was enraptured with Haley, his sister's best friend. Eight years his senior, he didn't think he had a chance, but when they did get together, they were combustible. When he finds out she is getting married, life for the two of them change, and not for the better. Now that Haley is back, will Blue ever look at her the same again? Locker has combined the second chance with the taboo of the older woman. She masterfully interweaves these two into a push and pull romance. I love her way of showing the maturity of the characters now vs then and how they can learn to come back to each other. It's both heart wrenching and heart warming as the listen went on. And you can't help but fall for Blue! A beautiful story told with care and compassion.

Narration by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel is spot on for this book. It requires voices of both young and older versions of the characters as well as high emotion at times. Both provide the perfect portrayal of the characters making us feel the feelings and passion grow as the story progresses. It's a wonderful performance.

2nd chance love for the farm boy & his sis' bff

10 yrs ago, Harper Haley disappeared from Blue Brigham's life without a word and devastated his 18yr old heart. Imagine his surprise when Harper shows up at his home to spend some time with his sister, who is recovering from a nasty divorce. Blue is determined to hang on to his hatred of Harper...he will NEVER forgive her...or will he? Harper has returned to her hometown to support her best friend, Blake, and does not look forward to seeing Blue. Unknownst to her bff, Harper and Blue...the bff baby brother...had a fling during their last year of college, and when he was 18. Then she did the hardest thing ever, she gave up her love to please her father and married a man of dad's choosing...a man that she divorced over a year ago. Can she ever get Blue to forgive her and move on with her life? Especially when Blue finds out the huge secret that Harper has withheld from him!!! This is a sweet, quick 2nd chance romance with all of the anger and angst that one expects, including the eventual HEA. The narration team did an awesome job portraying all of that angst...I was so ready to be team Blue! Worth the read/listen.

A good second chance story

This was one of the first books I've listened to where the woman was older than the man, and it was a nice change of pace to a typical second chance romance. This was a nice, light listen when I needed it. Tor Thom and Charley Ongel do an amazing job narrating together, their narration really flowed great!

A great listen!

This was my first Nicole Locker book and I enjoyed this second chance romance story. Add in that Blue is a cowboy just makes this story that much more sexy in every way. And of course the narrators did a fantastic job delivering this story
