From the outside, I live a charmed life: hockey legend for a father, my own promising future in the league, a great family, awesome friends. It’s not untrue, but it’s not quite that simple either. My dad’s advice has always been to make hockey my number-one priority—at least until I make it to the pros.

So going into my senior year of college, I have a plan. I’ll put in the effort required to pass my classes, play hockey like my life depends on it, and avoid relationships. All I have to do is stay focused on the end game. It should be easy.

But when a woman literally floats into my dock, just before summer ends and my senior year begins, I can’t resist one last hookup. What harm could a one-night stand do? It’s not like we even exchanged numbers. Everything is fine until I run into her on campus. It’s a big school. I should be able to avoid her. Except she happens to be in my class. And she’s not a student. She’s my professor.

I really loved Little Lies so I was excited to read Maverick story. This has age gap (she’s 8 years older), hockey romance, forbidden love where she is the professor and his the student. This isn’t my favorite in the series but I did enjoy it and the audio I highly recommend.

The story is great - a hot, athletic, privileged guy who has a hook up that changes his life. His deep issues, concerns and secrets become apparent when he 1. has to write about a childhood memory and 2. is able to protect the teacher he is so attracted to from a bunch of drunk guys.

The characters are great. There's one conversation between an oversharing mother and son who has inherited the same trait that was hilarious. It's called the "Verbal Diarrhea match."

The story is sweet and complicated.

It was a good read. Just a little slow for a bit, but the ending got better. Loved Maverick.

When I read Little Lies I became obsessed with this world and these characters! I couldn't wait for the next installment of this series. I listened to both of these books on audio, and I highly recommend them! Maverick is spending the summer at his familial lake house and that's when he meets the heroine and they have a fling for the summer. When it comes time for the first day of his senior year he recognizes the heroine and realizes that she is his new professor. Over the course of the first semester, they start to run into each other more and more on campus, and they can't deny their attraction to each other anymore. I loved the chemistry and angst in this romance! It was so good. I also loved how protective Maverick got over the heroine once he found out that her ex was bothering her. This is also a reverse age gap! I also really enjoyed how they both had to work really hard for their relationship because it made their hea so much more satisfying! Such a good taboo, student-teacher romance! Definitely a new fav of the year!!

I liked the story, but it was honestly for the side characters. Maverick wasn’t interesting to me… Clover wasn’t much better.
Maybe I could’ve enjoyed the story more if it wasn’t for the constant heavy sighs and loud swallows by the male narrator. It annoyed me. I’m not an ASMR person. It broke the story up for me. You’ll get a cadence then it is broken because we have to swallow…. Loudly… Andi was amazing. It’s too bad the males mouth noises drive me crazy.

This story is an incredible journey. The male character has some high anxiety on different topics and it's just an incredible journey to listen to this story. The female character of course is also going through her own journey The way these 2 collide is quite incredible this is an age gap story but I don't almost feel like it's not an age gap as the male character such an old soul at heart. Lots of emotion lots of steam definitely worth the listen the narrators did an excellent job of bringing the story to life it was definitely one that I could not stop listening to.

A reverse age-gap romance, Bitter Sweet Heart by Helena Hunting writing as H. Hunting was an engrossing blend of angst and steam. Hunting’s spin on the student teacher romance kept my Air Pods in my ears from start-to-finish. I listened to the audio, narrated by the powerhouse duo of Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber. Their performances were on point, perfectly bringing Clover and Maverick’s forbidden romance to life in my ears. A dash of suspense, genuinely heart-wrenching emotions and all of those delicious will-they-or-won’t-they, push and pull vibes made this a story I was wholly invested in from start to finish.

Maverick was definitely mature for his age, but this guy had a lot on his plate, and his super sexy professor and the hockey player romance with Clover was heart-racing, heat-filled and full of the highs and lows of a complex, complicated love story.

Bitter Sweet Heart had a bit of a coming-of-age feel to the romance and was jam packed full of feels. An emotional and poignant love story, I adored Clover and Maverick’s romance and can’t wait for more from these second-generation characters. Bitter Sweet Heart by H. Hunting gets 4.5 smooches from me!

This book brings all the uncertainty, sorrow, hope, inspiration, love, joy, and HEA for a listener of romance/comedy. I highly recommend! Story line and Narration is pure perfection!
