About this listen

Book 12 in the Gaunt's Ghosts Series

An enemy prisoner demands to speak to Gaunt, throwing the Tanith First into a murderous web of secrets and lies that could decide the fate of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

Follow the intrigue as, even on leave, Gaunt's Ghosts find themselves in trouble... A dangerous enemy prisoner will only speak to Gaunt (who's apparently dead, if Imperial records are to be believed), and the Ghosts find themselves mixed up with mysterious criminal gangs.

THE STORY

The Tanith First have been pulled back from the front line and are enjoying some well-deserved rest – but that is about to end. An enemy prisoner – one of the deadly Blood Pact – wants to betray his masters, but he will only talk to Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt. Can he be trusted, and what exactly does he know? Gaunt must discover the truth and avert a deadly threat to both his own life and to the Sabbat Worlds Crusade itself.

Abnett continues to amaze

If you're this far into Gaunt's story you certainly don't need me to tell you how great Abnett's writing is. The story of the Ghosts continues to delight.

A poignant and well-told story

Once again, Tony Longworth brings another of Abnett’s best stories to life. Great story, great narration. I can only hope that they re-record Salvation’s Reach and The Warmaster. The other narrator was good, but I’m a sucker for continuity. One can hope.

Interpersonal dialogue

Dragged out a bit compared to others in the series, but the lead up was nice and tense.

Another Excellent Addition

I still love this series, while Longworth may not have the expensive range to fully realize everyone he still does an excellent job in bringing them to life. I really like this setting in particular and including a more tangible psychic element.

Heads up for people

Good story, great narration if you liked the other 11 books in the series you’ll like this one, heads up tho for many people toby longworth is the voice of the tanith, and no hate to the next narrator but book 12 was narrated by someone else and is a bit rough lol

Another incredible narration by Toby Longworth

I devoured this book in two or three days! Cool to see the ghosts finally getting some rest and I can’t wait for the next book. I’m really hoping they re-record the next ones with Toby as the narrator, it wouldn’t be the same series without him.

Another great Gaunt book, on a smaller scale.

Despite being on a smaller scale, I found the story grew more and more compelling. It's easy to lose a reader when you go to a different style book, but I truly enjoyed it.
