Great story

I am always very leery when it comes to westerns... I started reading Louis Lamour when I was you the later William Johnstone.. I tried several others but they were not that great.

This story was very well written and well narrated. I enjoyed all the characters good and bad . I could almost see the scenery and the characters as if I were watching a movie. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes westerns.

This audiobook was given to me and I wrote this review with honesty and unbiased.

Great ‘western’

I’m reading this series a bit out of order but, by no means, did it take away from the action and adventure! Thoroughly enjoyed the writing and narration! Looking forward to book 3.

Nice short Western.....

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I love Westerns and this one fits right in with some of the best older ones! I cut my teeth on Zane Grey as a child and this one is very similar. The adventures of Moses Calhoun during the Civil War era was interesting. His hard family life, his willingness to help an older sick friend without recourse was heart warming. Hearing of his trials & tribulations kept me quite interested. Would enjoy hearing more of his escapades in future stories.

Lacks something essential...

Welcome to the opening volley of a new series. The series chronicles the adventures of Mountain Man Moses Calhoun in the western mountains of the United States in the 1860s. I enjoyed an exciting tale of a man fighting the bitter elements of the mountains in winter while saving his skin from both the U.S. Cavalry and the Indians. Moses agreed to take a warning to a friend’s daughter in an Indian camp soon to be attacked by the cavalry. A good story with a decent amount of background laid out for the MC. Although I do wish that western authors would express more veracity and understanding for/of the Indians at that time rather than advancing the rhetoric we learned as children. A different narrator might also add some “atmosphere” to the tale. Three.point.five. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Looking Forward to Moses Calhoun's Adventures

This story takes place during the American civil war era. The protagonist Moses Calhoun is an outdoors man that lives a simple life with his wife in the northwest part of the USA. He's asked by an old friend of his for a favor where he has to travel to warn his friends daughter about a large army force headed their way. His friends daughter lives with a Native American tribe which are not expecting a raid during the harsh winter. It's up to Moses Calhoun to make it there in time to not only save his friends daughters life but possibly prevent a massacre.

I enjoyed this book on my morning walks and daily commute to work. It's not a long book which means that it gets to the point with enough character development to leave you satisfied. I enjoyed the narrators take on the various characters throughout the story. I thought he did an excellent job at portraying the rugged characters as well as the Native Americans. It did leave me wondering what will be the next chapter in Moses Calhoun's adventures. I haven't read many westerns but after this one I will certainly explore more of this genre.

Loved this book

This was just the right length for a story that was so well written.

I really did feel cold and hungry for them at times.

Enough information was given about the characters that they were more relatable.

Thomas Craig brought this story to life.

Jim

Good story on the debts owed to friends. A really uplifting story and well told - I felt the cold myself! The narration was good giving the impression of a grizzled mountain man himself. Congratulations & thanks!

A most warming tale.

When I think of campfires, mountains and living in the wild, the first thing that comes to mind is Oh yeah!!! Blood on the mountain is exactly what the title says it is, and it's an awesome read for any fan of the genre. The hardships the main protagonist goes through to achieve a request given by a old friend speaks volumes for the meaning of friendship even in today's society. I enjoyed Blood on the Mountain and suggest you give it a listen.
