Publisher's summary

First a slave, then a conscript, she’s always been at the mercy of monsters. When she’s offered a chance to unsheathe her claws, will death spill out?

Sal Luxx is desperate to prove her kind are more than beasts. Born a second-class citizen in a world ruled by humans, the hardheaded pure-bred iliri has had subservience beaten into her veins. But her waning hope for freedom surges when she is given a pass to the trials for an elite military unit… and unleashes her inner predator.

After Sal’s interaction with her new brothers-in-arms triggers strange mental powers, the knowledge her abusers have kept from her drives a growing rage. Yet even as she struggles to smother her rising berserker instincts, she’s undermined by the irresistible urge to claim a mate.

Will Sal’s untamable nature spawn a rebellion or a massacre?

** A.H. Hadley is the fantasy persona of the international best-selling author Auryn Hadley. Only the pen name has changed, the stories you'll enjoy have not changed.

BloodLust is the darkly intense first book in the Rise of the Iliri epic science fantasy series. If you like fierce female leads, shocking secrets, and scenes of primal passion, then you’ll love this sharp-edged adventure.

Like all the books in the Rise of the Iliri series, this is a complete epic science-fantasy novel, without a cliffhanger. Due to the subject matter of this series, please check the Sensitivity Notice and the Author's Note page at the beginning of the book for specifics.

I can finally multi task while enjoying one of my

when I heard this was being made into audio I was excited yet a tad terrified. there is just so much here, characters, and i completely forgot about the "head voice". however,Christina did an amazing job bringing to life each and every character with a variety of voice, each distinct and fitting for the character.

as for the story, well this is just the beginning of an amazing world that auryn crafted. audio just allows me to be enthralled by the illiri and humans of Ogun while multitasking! I really can't wait for the rest of the books to be made into audio.

received an advanced reviewer copy, but review is my own.

I love this series as a book and I love it even more now that the first three are out as audiobooks! I can’t wait until the rest of the series is released as audiobooks.

Love Her Storytelling

Auryn is a master of storytelling! I can immerse myself in anything she writes because her attention to detail is just that good. Ms Cato does an admirable job pushing thru so many dialect and vocal changes. I do wish these had been made dual narration but that's a personal preference, and not a knock on Ms Cato. Fabulous audiobook series!

Love the book. The narrator could be better

I always really enjoy A. Hadley's books and the Rise of the Illiri series are my absolute favorite. I've read it several times. I had to admit that I was hesitant at first with Cato's narration. I wasn't a big fan of the accent she gave the male "human" characters. I wish they would have made it sound more natural. At first, listen, it grated a bit on my ears, but after a while, it wasn't as bad.

For those not familiar with this series before warned that it is a true epic with, I think 11 books in all. This first book barely dips your toe into the creative genius of Hadley. So if you're like me and like to wait until the entire series is completed and before you start listening, you might consider waiting or reading the books first.

Loved it

I was waiting for a couple of years for the audible book and it was worth it. I had to get used to the speaker and her intonation for different persons but it was very good. I read the books a couple of times so in my head some word had another pronunciation but damn i really love the audible i cannot wait for book 2. If you are not sire about buying it. Don't hesitate, Auryn hadley writes wonderful books and it was a really good to listen to. I started and i only stopped listening because i had to work. This book is that amazing.

Great series

One of my favorite series that no matter how many times I’ve read always holds my attention. However, I found it extremely difficult (and frustrating) to listen to. I think the character portrayals missed the mark being so accent heavy (and the accent used) in the males, with Cyno’s being the worst by sounding so timid and not simply speaking a second language.

Will probably stick with the kindle version for the rest of the series.

Bloodlust.

Auryn Hadley writes great stories. They are different…a bit sexual…and always a learning experience. Christina Cato did well. Her best performance thus far in my opinion. The human accent was a bit imperfect Indian accent which is kind of cute.
