About this listen
James "Bodacious" Creed stopped a killer and helped bring peace to Santa Cruz, a coastal California city on the edge of the American frontier. Now, the undead lawman, resurrected with steam-based technology, takes on dangerous criminal cases as a private investigator.
One night while riding by the wharf, Creed hears a gunshot. He and his coyote companion, Coconino, rush to the scene. In a forest clearing, he finds two dead men and a dying woman. Mechanical parts ring her neck and wrist, and as she whispers of her travails, the former Chinese slave dies in his arms.
Someone in San Francisco is using illegal machinery to alter and control women like her. To hunt down the perpetrator, Creed travels to the City by the Bay. His journey takes him into the depths of Chinatown, reveals a secret society, and puts old and new friends in danger.
How can Creed learn the truth before more women are changed, manipulated, or killed?

Story
In a dimly lit cell, a man has awakened to find himself surrounded by the most unimaginable and barbaric things that not even his worst nightmare could conjure up. His captor, Seth Coker, takes the man on a journey into his twisted world of vengeance. A world that runs parallel with the horrors that could only be found in the deepest and darkest parts of hell. A world that bestows a wrath of chaos upon the wicked of our society who have fallen through the cracks of the judicial system. Seth wasn't born a vigilante, nor did he seek out the role—it sought him out.

Story
James Crowley met his mortal end in a hail of gunfire. Now, he finds himself in purgatory, serving the White Throne to avoid falling to hell. Not quite undead, though not alive either, the best he can hope for is to work off his servitude and fade away. His not-so-sacred duty as a Hand of God? Use his new abilities to hunt down demonic beings that have infiltrated the mortal realm. This time, the White Throne has sent him to the middle of nowhere: a Western town called Dead Acre with a saloon, a moldy church, and little else worth talking about. There isn’t even a sheriff.

Story
Union soldier John Chenneville suffered a traumatic head wound in battle. His recovery took the better part of a year as he struggled to regain his senses and mobility. By the time he returned home, the Civil War was over, but tragedy awaited. John’s beloved sister and her family had been brutally murdered. Their killer goes by many names. He fought for the North in the late unpleasantness, and wore a badge in the name of the law. But the man John knows as A. J. Dodd is little more than a rabid animal, slaughtering without reason or remorse, needing to be put down.

interesting twists
The Old West with Steampunk touches. Kept my intertest even tho this is not my normal genre! The storyline, character development, and narration were excellent.
This was a great stand-alone story, and now I have to get book 1 -- and watch for the next one in the series.

a twist on the zombie theme
this is book two in a trilogy. I normally hate anything zombie, but this twist is very believable in the steampunk world. I would love to see this made into a movie or tv series...

Steampunk Zombie Western. What's not to like?
This is book two of a series, but given that it revolves around a crime, it doesn't seem necessary to read to listen to them in order. The story gives me what I need there. Creed is a zombie detective with an interesting background (though since this is steampunk, his zombiedom is more Steve Austin that Dawn of the Dead). He comes across a dying woman. Chasing down the killer is going to send him in directions he couldn't have fathomed. The story moves along with good pacing and lots of interesting twists which I won't get specific about because, well, it is a detective story, right? Good listen. Well narrated.

A wild world
A wild world, Fesmire created. A really creative mashup of different genres. An undead, superhuman hero on a quest for justice! Loved it! Some heavy theme in here, which gave the story a lot of weight.
The performance was fantastic. There's a sprawling cast of characters, and the narrator handled them all consistently and distinctly. Expertly, I'll add! Incredibly well done.
Highly recommended!

I am in love with this series!
The mixture of Steampunk, Zombie, and Western gives an opening to many people's interest when choosing what to read. I highly enjoyed the storyline! So much so that I finished it in almost one sitting. Such an original idea for this book with the incorporation of Steampunk. So many things that are impossible in a normal Western is open season in this marriage of three genres. It's great because you never know what's going to happen! No guessing correctly in this series. So unpredictable!. Now to wait for book three to come out on audio ☺️

Bodacious Is On Point
Bodacious Creed is a page turner, a roller-coaster thrill ride, with non-stop action from beginning to end. The characters are believable, the dialogue crisp and snappy. The settings so clear that the reader feels as if he’s right amid the action. Yes I love the Northern Cali settings... The temporary suspension of disbelief is natural. A nice performance by Drew Blood. I received this audiobook for free from S.O. for my agreed upon review.

Steampunk Western Series
What happens when a woman dies in the arms of a steam-powered resurrected zombie ex-marshall investigator? An old fashioned quest for justice, of course.
Bodacious Creed heads to San Francisco to find justice for the murdered woman. Along the way he meets new allies, but as he's drawn deeper into a seedy secret society, can he trust them? A cast of new characters is introduced, but Coconino remains my favorite.
The story is fast-paced, with action, drama, danger, mystery and several twists. Throughout, we get to know Bodacious and what motivates him. I like that he's nuanced and complicated.
Drew Blood had the perfect "Western" voice to my ear, and I loved the way he narrated the story.
