About this listen

I never expected my knight in tarnished armor to be an older, angry bodyguard who cares about nothing except the job.

As a Juilliard graduate, my life was full of promise until a stalker shattered everything.

My world ripped apart and left me with nothing but fear and uncertainty.

That's when my father assigned Oliver to be my bodyguard.

At first, his seriousness clashed with my yearning for a carefree existence.

But as time passed, our forbidden tension grew stronger, and the desire in his eyes showed.

Our worlds collided in an isolated cabin, igniting our longing for each other.

But tragedy struck, and I lost my memories.

Amidst the chaos, with warm embraces and passionate kisses from Oliver, my memories started returning over time, sparking a love that defies all odds.

The stakes are high, and the danger is real.

I now face the most challenging decision: choosing between the love of my life and my dreams of being a ballerina.

meh

I've heard several books with AI audio reading. I prefer the make voice over the female voice used for this book. On the plus side, the author seems to have used decent punctuation so it was more accurate reading.

The story was average and hard to follow. It had closed door scenes that were skipped for obvious reasons in order to keep it clean; however, it was so abrupt between scenes that it had no flow and made me have to guess what path the relationship took.

The backstory of the characters were practically nil. You learn a little about Aurora because of her parents being characters, but it's superficial and there is no investment in her or Oliver's well-being. So much of Oliver's thoughts were in his head and weren't voiced, so there was no real friction in the story to root for him to get the girl. It was a difficult story to finish, but I toughed it out just in case it was a lull in the writing. It was written more like an instruction manual of how a mafia-type lackey could fall for the bosses daughter, try to repress his feelings and eventually succeed in getting her in bed after her repeated attempts to seduce him.

I may give the author another chance on a different story via Kindle Unlimited instead of AI voice.

Not a good read

The narrator was terrible. No voice changes for characters. She sounded like a robot. Very flat and she didn’t read punctuation correctie. I struggled to continue to listen.
