Publisher's summary

Lonnie Blair was sitting comfortably in a deer blind on a crisp January afternoon when his life came to a sudden, violent end. Was it an accident, or had Blair’s long history of womanizing finally caught up to him?

Blanco County Game Warden John Marlin joins the investigation and quickly identifies a prime suspect - a neighboring ranch foreman with several questionable incidents in his past. But is the answer really that simple?

Meanwhile, local good ol’ boys Red O’Brien and Billy Don Craddock also have a mystery to solve. How did the founder of a new wellness retreat convince Red’s girlfriend to participate in a risqué photoshoot - and what should Red do about it?

Boom Town is the explosively funny new installment in Ben Rehder’s Blanco County series.

Another one finished way too soon.

I love these characters, the settings, and the stories. This is a fine place to start but you are missing a lot of laughes if you don't go back and read the earlier Blanco county books. I buy the books because my extended family passes around our favorites, but when I have these on Audible I listen while doing other things and I don't feel guilty about the other books I'm putting on hold to jump into Blanco County.

A fun visit to Texas Hill Country

I love a mystery that can make me laugh and keep me guessing. The narrator does a great job with the characters and the pace of the story.

I visit Texas Hill Country at least once a year, so knowing the area added a layer of fun to this great mystery story. I could really imagine being there.

Enjoyed the story

This was a very entertaining story with good character development. There were times it was hard to know who was talking since there was so much back and forth between plots

Back in Texas

Well, it seems Red and Billy Don have slowed down a bit as they age , but they can still cause a ruckus and get into trouble. It's been too long since the last book and, I savored this one. By the end of this one a few of the bad guys were no longer a problem one way or the other. I liked having dueling storylines at the end, then everything was wrapped up neatly at the end. I don't think the game warden should press his luck with the ex, because no matter how well meaning, it will turn to cr@p in the end. Stay away, well away!!! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion .The narrator did a great job bringing it to life. This narrator was made for this series.

Best of a great series

Love an an predictable plot that leads in several different directions. Plus the characters feel real. We all know a Red & Billy Don. It’s fun to see them in print.
