About this listen
A kingdom faces devastating sickness, and it’s up to a brave silver-haired orphan and a peculiar wolf to find the cure. It’s a race against the Hunter’s moon, and the moon doesn’t lose.
Orphaned as a baby at the gates of her village, Sylvein led a good life until she turned thirteen. Then she changed. Her hair turned silver, and strange markings appeared on her skin, making her an easy target for the scrutiny and distrust of her neighbors. But when an illness sweeps her kingdom, an ancient text her childhood friend shows her indicates a cure. The issue is that the required ingredients are across the river in the mysterious Kingdom of Aurora.
All Sylvein knows about the other kingdom are terrifying myths of skinwalkers and moon rituals. But it’s majestic and alluring and calls to her blood like a song. Blood, she soon discovers, which makes her something she doesn’t understand. Along with the wolf she saved from a hunter’s trap, Sylvein is the only hope for her family and the village that broke her spirit. The girl they refused to accept may be their only chance at survival.
Fast-paced and exciting, this fantasy has it all - identity-discovering thrill, paranormal excitement, stunning romance, and unforgettable friendships that’ll make you want to howl at the moon.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

I've survived as a Sigma for years. Relying on myself through my job as an EMT helping those who can't help themselves. Something my pack never afforded me, even when they knew the cruelty of our Alpha. But when I receive word that shifters are unaccounted for, and my best friend is one of the missing? I have to go back. I expected to face some of my demons at the pack gathering, but I didn't expect the rival Alpha to stare at me like that. I didn't expect him to know my name, and I definitely didn't anticipate him showing up at my hotel room after dark.

Wonderful
I got an audio copy. It's narrated by one person and she does a pretty good job at changing her voice for different characters. The pauses are the perfect length. The main reason i don't listen to many audio books is the pauses. Even at 2x speed they're typically too long and any faster you can't understand what the narrator is saying. So, wonderful job on that front!
The story itself was very engaging and kept me listening past my bedtime. I appreciated the way the histories were revealed over the course of the book rather than all at once. Things were explained and described when needed, although secrets have still been kept and there are a few stories that will be explained in later books. You get just enough to keep you hooked.
I have a feeling Sylvein isn't going to feel alone or outcast much longer. The cliffhanger is great. It keeps you wanting more but not furiously throwing your device across the room. I'm looking forward to the next book.
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
