Publisher's summary

Breathless is the first audiobook in the Blue Fire Saga, a paranormal romance series set at a small college in present day Connecticut. There are currently six audiobooks in the series.

Weston College freshman Leesa Nyland has been fascinated by vampires since she was three years old. That's when her mom started acting strange, insisting that sunlight hurt her skin because she'd been bitten by a one-fanged vampire. But fascinated doesn't mean Leesa believes. Any more than she believes in blue fire, people who live for centuries, and kisses that can kill.

But when her beloved older brother suddenly disappears, she is forced to consider all these and more. She also has to figure out what to do about her mysterious new boyfriend. She knows Rave likes her a lot - so why won't he kiss her? As Leesa draws closer to finding her brother, she faces some gut-wrenching decisions. Should she risk her mom's life trying to "cure" her? Should she continue seeing Rave, after he reveals his dangerous secret? And most terrifying of all, should she make the ultimate sacrifice - give up her humanity-to save her brother?

Silvey sure can make a characters come to life!

A really fresh take on Vampires.

Regarding the audio narrator, the woman did a brilliant job in giving our heroin a playful tone which I am not 100% sure would not have sounded childish if I read the book. Good job. Now for the story.

First of all, I applaud the author for having a heroin that is perfectly imperfect. Having a limp added more to this story than any fresh or new story line ever could.
I loved the fact that our heroin is not perfect.

The one fanged vampire and the general vampire nemesis and the love of our heroin's life was fresh, new and exciting.

My complaints, the again insta-love that we all go through with all YA and NA books. Also our heroin forgets about her mom and brother awfully quick once she meets the HOT - physically, sexually and his blood is boiling - love of her life.

The story is however saved by the fresh approach, the limp present and good writing.

As far as NA vampire stories go....this one is well worth the read.

What an amazing read!

Where does Breathless rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Breathless ranks 2nd next to the Sounds of War.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Callie, her spunk and free spiritedness brought a lot energy to the character. She's an amazing gal.

What does Anne Marie Susan Silvey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It brings the book to life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh and cry. Callie had so many laugh lines and the final few scenes were amazing.

Any additional comments?

Breathless.....left me ... well Breathless! This is such an amazing read! I'm a huge twilight fan and vampires are a part of my list of literature that I love. I had the opportunity to read this book and I really enjoyed it. I loved his take on vampires and vampire hunters this was very different than your commonplace vampire story. The one toothed gratham was also super interesting. Scott is a master storyteller and paints a beautiful picture in your mind of his characters and of the places they interact. I loved the main character Lisa she was so amazing, flawed yet beautiful. I also have a soft spot for Callie she is so perky and loveable! I cried during the final confrontational scene. I don't want to spoil it other than to say WELL DONE! I love this story and I will be reading the rest of the series for sure!
