About this listen
Howard Marsh is a lot of things: a liar, a thief, a poor man’s wizard. He’s the product of a miserable county with more dirt roads than paved; where poverty and loss is the order of the day. He’s a man haunted by his past, and has yet to find any reason to try and piece himself back together.
Where we find him is at the bottom, eking out a living as a water witch, a copper thief, a finder of lost things. Living in a storage shed and trying to maintain what's left of the frayed relationships of the few family members who will still talk to him. Untrained, he uses the drugs that ravage his body to fuel his magic.
Marsh will work to unravel two supernatural mysteries as only a redneck wizard can: poorly, and with much cursing. In Bringing Home the Rain he has to piece together just why it hasn’t rained in months within the bounds of a perfect circle just south of town. And in Dancing With Your Demons he’s on the trail of a missing woman whose now infamous son once burned down a church.
He is Howard Marsh, the Methgician.
He’s a travesty...but he’s the best hope Jubal County has.
(Warning: This book contains much cursing and foul language, as befits a tale told by a drug addled white trash wizard.)

He’s a dragon who isn’t allowed to fly, forbidden to use his magic, all to stay hidden from the rest of the world. How will he ever find his mate like this? But when he finds an injured omega in the woods around the castle and brings him home, the spell that kept them hidden is broken. Erwan’s father is furious—not that that’s anything new. Smooth Talking and Oblivion
Solo really brought to life this unique modern folk fantasy. I’ve read the books before but the audio is worth the listen tenfold. The world of Howard Marsh belongs in your ears.

Two entertaining listens
These are two engaging stories. I am new to the world of Howard Marsh and am enjoying it so far. Howard Marsh is not a hero nor does he have the best self-control. He knows it and makes no bones about it. Working with what life has given him he fights to get the job done as he can.
These stories are fast paced and well written. I was quickly immersed into each adventure. Howard may not be the most upstanding person but he does truly care for people. Narrator John Solo does a wonderful job of bringing life and emotions out in these characters.

Terrific Story & Listen🎧A Wild & Intriguing Ride!
I enjoyed this book immensely, the story drew me right in, grabbing my attention and captivating it the entire time. Ok, so Bob McGough tells us that “Howard Marsh is a lot of things: a liar, a thief, a poor man’s wizard”, and he is all that, and so much more, some good, some not so good, but you know what, I was for him and hoping for the best outcome in every situation he found himself in and some of the were real doozies. McGough’s descriptive details are amazing and he paints a vivid picture with his words to bring you alongside the character and giving you a bird’s-eye view of everything going in the world of Howard Marsh. Some may say Howard is a man down on his luck, but he gets by, lives his life in a drug induced oblivion, mostly by choice, getting by, sometimes with help, sometimes by the skin of his teeth, sometimes it is just luck. Despite all that, he is an interesting man, one with gifts and abilities that are sought after in times of need. I found the paranormal elements to be intriguing, and the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as is the character development. Bob McGough, thank you for this great story and wild ride.
🎧📚🎧 John Solo is a wonderfully talented voice artist, and he did an amazing job capturing the essence of the story and the characters. He has a knack of choosing the perfect voice for the characters, ones that fit their personality to a tee, and I love how he owns each role, sounding believable and just as I imagined the character to sound. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters’ emotions and has you feeling them all. John Solo

Magic, humor, and grit
Bob McGough is a master at creating lovable scoundrels who are reluctantly shedding their bad habits and discovering their better selves. Meth-addicted wizard Howard Marsh is Exhibit A in this regard. You can't help rooting for him!

Brilliant mix of deep south magic and mystery!
This first book is a brilliant mix of deep south magic, poverty, mystery, and substance abuse.
Having grown up in the south, its like i know someone who fits into almost every character, making them all especially relatable. The settings also bring back feelings of nostalgia from my youth.
The story quickly locks you in, making me want more and more! I was happy to learn the author subverted many of the normal tropes for this genre, and it was very refreshing and enjoyable!
After finishing this book, i was excited to see the 2nd audiobook was available, and i immediately picked it up and powered through it in one day! Cant wait for more!

Trailer Trash with a heart
What a great blend of subcultures and themes. The depiction of rural southern life is very accurate, and I love that not all drug heads are bad people. Looking forward to the rest of the series getting the same treatment as well.

Demons and rednecks and magic, oh my!
This was an absolute rollercoaster of two stories! I thoroughly enjoyed both tales and am excited to know there are more adventures to explore! There were several moments where I genuinely burst out laughing! I’m looking forward to starting the next story in the Jubal County Saga!
