Publisher's summary

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina meets Stranger Things in award-winning author S. A. Hunt’s Burn the Dark, first in the Malus Domestica horror action-adventure series about a punk YouTuber on a mission to bring down witches, one vid at a time.

Robin is a YouTube celebrity gone-viral with her intensely-realistic witch hunter series. But even her millions of followers don't know the truth: Her series isn’t fiction.

Her ultimate goal is to seek revenge against the coven of witches who wronged her mother long ago. Returning home to the rural town of Blackfield, Robin meets friends new and old on her quest for justice. But then, a mysterious threat known as the Red Lord interferes with her plans....

Critic reviews

Burn the Dark is a brilliant debut! S. A. Hunt gets everything right about the creepier aspects 21st digital culture and presents a compelling and memorable female lead.” (Jonathan Maberry, New York Times best-selling author of V-Wars and Glimpse)

“S.A. Hunt is a kickass storyteller conquering the zone between fantasy and horror. Keep an eye on this one, because he’s just getting started.” (New York Times best-selling author Chuck Wendig)

“S. A. Hunt's Burn the Night is a bold, sharp, fresh take on urban fantasy that brings it into the 21 century. The characters feel real and their flaws make them beautiful. The world building is impressive and immersive, the prose is sharp and tight, and the scary is damn scary. It's a lot of fun!” (R. S. Belcher, author of Brotherhood of the Wheel and M. I. B. International (novelization)

Sucks you in and doesn’t let go

A pretty dang riveting story, with plenty of tension and creep factor and just enough humor. I’ll be jumping on the sequel as soon as it’s released!

If Stranger Things, It, Buffy and Pulp Fiction…

had a party, it would be this book. Imperfect misfit antihero vigilante with the unlikeliest motley crew, brought together by the same malevolent forces seeking to destroy them.

I mean you leave the big city for safety and quiet, only to find it’s infested by ancient parasitic evil. Bummer.

This was creepy, skin-crawling, sometimes disturbing fun.

Kind of ends on a cliffhanger. You’ll need to get the next book. I’m definitely hooked and will recommend.

Love this unique, descriptive, and chilling story!

I loved Burn the Dark and am excited for the second book in the series! The careful craftsmanship that S.A. Hunt puts into the narrative really brings life and depth to the diverse cast of characters and the world where their adventures take place. It was easy to immerse myself in this story thanks to the sensory details and the well placed metaphors. I laughed and grimaced and sat at the edge of my seat waiting to find out what was coming next. This charming and terrifying take on witches and the supernatural is wonderfully original and I can't wait to see what happens to Robin and the gang next. I also look forward to reading more of S.A. Hunt's work in the future, she is a brilliant and inspiring story teller! -Charlie

Oops they forgot the ending

I like a cliffhanger but this book ended on a bizarre mid scene note. The side was rich and entertaining, but there was no resolve.

Supposed “Creepy Horror”

Is actually a silly young adult novel. I guess if the Vampire Diaries scare you then you’re in for a treat. Otherwise, it’s about as scary and dark as the Haunted Mansion ride. The characters are just too campy and the witches are something straight out of a PG film. The best part is the Narrator, Saskia is absolutely amazing.

The reviews described this as dark (almost too dark for some), creepy and somewhat gritty with some humor…lol it’s about as dark as a beautiful sunny day in the safest of neighborhoods. What a shame.
