Dramatic and Romantic

The narrators are so good. And the characters take you by surprise with their actions and feelings. And yes, violence plays a large part with at least one of the characters. The relationship between Amo and Greta is intriguing in the beginning and develops into a true love story. In a lot of ways, it was like watching Romeo and Juliet or West Side Story with the star crossed lovers. But it’s definitely grittier not to mention gripping. From the very beginning we’re taken on a roller coaster of emotions (tears, anger, love) and thrills.

Excellent! Read

I previously read the book and now the audiobook and was just as good. Absolutely loved the main characters and the families. There was true love, trust, heartbreaking at times. Plenty of action. Can’t wait for her brothers book to be released. Narrators also did a great job conveying feelings.

That female narrator 😩

Great story, and the male narrators were good. The female narrator was fine when reading her POV, but when the male’s POV includes a woman’s voice - yuck!!!! She sounded like a way too young very meek kid. Creepy!!! Totally not appropriate, and not believable.

Great story but the female narrator..ew

The story is absolutely amazing, unfortunately the voice of the male character playing the female is extremely creepy and ruins the story.

I loved it so much❤️

After so many books of the families, I didn't think you could rise above, and you did it in a big way.
I could not stop and am waiting inpatiently for Nebivo's story.

Soulmate!!

I would not consider this a standalone. You definitely need to at least read the Camorra Chronicles, Marcella's book, and most of the Bound in Blood series to understand family dynamics, key plot points and general understand who most of these people are and why they are important to Greta and Amo's story.

Greta takes the "I'm not like other girls" troupe to another level lol...and during my third read through I'm not sure it's in a good way. 😅 She's decribed as sweet, but the way she treats Aurora made me sad. First commenting her for having many dresses, that rarely wearing. While Greta wears the same tutu and leotard often, despite stating she had several. Judgemental much. Aurora commenting on how she wasn't close with her was disappointing. Especially since when Greta was a baby she didn't like to be held by men, and took to women more. So why wouldn't she be close to Aurora, but close to Alessio and Massimo. Then when Aurora called her, apologized for potentially waking Greta up, and homegirl literally said "you did, actually". Why? What is the reason 😭😭.

And news flash Amo, Maximus didn't become "almost like family" when he married Sara. He already was family because Cara (his mother) is your cousin 😭.

Now my all over the place review 🤣

*Some spoilers below*

"I doubt any man with a flicker of sanity will dare approach Remo's daughter" -Nino

“If Greta fell in love with an enemy, could he stop you from killing him if his love for her was true and if he tried to prove it to you by risking his life?”
“No,” Remo said without hesitation. “Even if that meant Greta would never forgive you?” “Greta can’t be separated from Nevio, nor should she be separated from her family. We are her safe haven. I’d never allow anyone to take that from her, not even for love.” (From Twisted Cravings)

Introducing Amo, a perfect blend of both his father Luca and his uncle Matteo. Falling in love hard and enjoying the hunt. Often not thinking about the consequences when it comes to getting the girl he wants.

Amo and Greta so far is my favorite couple in the Sins of the Fathers series. (Until Nevio and Aurora's book maybe 😅). I really enjoyed Anna and Santino's book, but felt something was missing. Amo and Greta's love story was foreshadowed in the Adamo book. And it played out against everything Remo said. I read this book in 2 days, and then 2 weeks later read it again. I couldn't get enough. Amo and Greta are soul mates! Though they (mainly Greta) drove me crazy when it came to accepting their love. Also Amo said time and time again that he would do anything for Greta, both his father and Greta disregarded this. Homie got stabbed for her and they still didn't believe him.... why? 💀

I'm a hopeless romantic when it comes to star-crossed lovers and falling in love at first sight. This was pure love (curiosity maybe) from the beginning, not lust. They both see the good in each other, and wanted to get to know each other on a deeper level. Their first kiss, breath taking. They fought for each other until the very end. I usually don't like when all the sex is saved for the latter part of the book. But with them I think it was better Amo waited to be married to Greta. They changed each other for the better. Their union made better men out of Luca and Remo. And I'm glad Greta was able to regain her ability to do ballet since Amo loved that about her so much.

When I read this the second and third time I realized that I did not like that Amo was sneaking around with Greta. I know it added to the forbiddeness of their romance, but I think it made Luca seem like a bit of a push over since he forced Amo to marry Cressida. When in prior books someone called Aria a whore and he handled them. Amo slept with Cressida to get back at her for calling his sister a whore, and I'm sure Luca could have found a way to silence Cressida's father.

Though I won't lie Amo and Greta's time at the farm was H.O.T, hot and kept me on my toes about whether they would get caught. I feel like I would have preferred them having a secret relationship and getting caught at the farm as the climax of the book. Instead of Amo getting married and then having to sneak around that way. Cressida still could have attacked Greta out of spite, and have made sense story wise. Making Greta his mistress, and then saying he respects her was kinda ick. Especially when early on in the book he says she deserved to be a queen and not an affair!

Greta jumping into the Hudson to stop the fighting after the wedding was just reckless. Again the first time reading I gasped, great plot device to add drama. But it makes me wonder what was going through Greta's head. What if Amo didn't save you in time, did she think her death would have ended the war? 🥴 And I'm so happy Amo pointed this out to her. Greta took the whole thing as a joke, girl there is nothing funny about jumping off a bridge 😭. Then thinking about how she almost stabbed herself to save a random man when she was 12. Hid out in a basement for hours, then peed in a corner. To only hide under a bed for days. This girl does too much sometimes, without thinking about the consequences. But I couldn't hate Greta for any of it.

One of my favorite chapters was when Greta told her family about the affair with Amo. Nevio's reaction was expected. But Remo showed a rare display of emotions. You can tell how much of an impact Greta has on him. He doesn't want to lose his "mia cara". I know his heart shattered when Greta said she hated him. Serafina saying that she finally understands what her family with through with her, says alot about how much she as grown as a person.

A plot hole I know was done because this is a romance after all, was a Greta instantly being comfortable around Amo. She spent the whole beginning of the book telling us she didn't like to touch strangers or none family members. To that instantly going out the window. And she's putting his shirt on, with her legs in his lap. Then telling him she wouldn't mind kissing him. And I will throw in how she almost touched herself thinking about him while in the bath. I felt Amo should have had to work for her trust and comfort.

I love the subtle but present mental/behavioral health representation through Greta and Nino. It was briefly mentioned in Nino's book, and I read somewhere that Cora doesn't want to put a name to it. But I'm still glad it's in the book, we often don't get main characters with mental /behavioral health in romance books.

One thing that stood out to me was the character development of Aria and Luca kind of went out the window. When Amo approached Luca about loving Greta, Luca acted as if love at first sight or marrying for love was ludacris. When if I remember correctly it didn't take him all that long to fall in love with Aria, and he just let his daughter marry the "enemy" for love. I was with Amo regarding that conversation. Cressida was just as responsible for the situation as Amo was. Yet I feel the only person facing the consequences of their actions was Amo. And I suppose I understand why, but considering Luca literally tells Amo at the end of the book he would have cancelled the wedding if Amo had appeared more serious about Greta. Not sure how much more serious he could have gotten, he told you he loved her. Aria being described as never questioning Luca was off putting. Since Aria is known for going the extra mile for her family. Now I'm sure she had to mellow out some to keep Luca's trust after a few "betrayals" in the past. But I feel it cost her her firy spirit. The Aria of the past would have stood up for Amo and passionately rejected the marriage to Cressida.

Knowing that Navio has a book coming out soon, I'm thoroughly looking forward to how he took care of Cressida. And the fallout in the Famigila. Plus finding out why Aurora ran away from Vegas!!

Amazing Story But Read By The Wrong People

Out of all Cora Reilly’s books, this has to be my favourite. It was so thrilling and the characters were so amazing and developed.
I was so disappointed by the narrations!
I mean this is the Italian Mafia but you got someone reading it in an Irish accent!
They all also did a terrible job switching into different characters, sometimes you could even tell the difference on who was who and if you did, it just sounded so weird/wrong.
Overall the story was really good.
