Officials say between 4,000 and 5,000 homes have been destroyed in California's Eaton Fire, with the number expected to rise. The fire, which is in and around Pasadena, is still 0% contained.

Actor Milo Ventimiglia, best known for his roles in "This is Us" and "Gilmore Girls," spoke about losing his home in the L.A.-area wildfires as he and his pregnant wife prepare to welcome their baby soon. Ventimiglia spoke to CBS News as he returned to his home after evacuating.

As the NFL playoffs begin, Jan Crawford goes to Baltimore, where a former Broadway designer is helping the Ravens build on their string of success, contributing to the team's winning culture as they head into the wildcard weekend.

  • California Wildfire Victims Face Uncertain Future | Final Day of Remembrance for Former President Carter | Harlan Coben on success of "Missing You"
    Jan 9 2025

The Los Angeles area wildfires have forced more than 100,000 people from their homes. Aaron Samson and his 83-year-old father-in-law, who has Parkinson's disease, escaped on foot from the Palisades Fire after they were forced to get out of their car.

While many who evacuated from the fires in California don't know if their homes survived, others found a way back — only to see that there was nothing left. For those who found their house was still standing, they said their town itself was in ruins.

FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell joins "CBS Mornings" to talk about the federal government's response to the Palisades Fire, which has burned over 17,000 acres in Los Angeles County and left entire neighborhoods destroyed.

On Thursday, a funeral processional will move across Washington, D.C., transporting former President Jimmy Carter's casket from the U.S. Capitol to the National Cathedral for his official state funeral. President Biden will deliver one of the eulogies as all of the former living presidents are expected to attend.

Presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin joins "CBS Mornings" to discuss the lasting impact of Jimmy Carter's presidency and his contributions to the nation as the country honors his life at his state funeral.

The classic game show "Hollywood Squares" is getting a fresh update. CBS Mornings co-host Nate Burleson got a sneak peek.
