Story
In the wake of the cataclysmic events that reshaped our world in 2020, a sense of relief washed over us all. By late 2023, I think we were ready to just live life again. I know I was. It was a time to make new friends and put the past to rest. Rayne and I hadn’t known each other long, but we were building a solid friendship, nothing more. It was our common interests that sent us on vacation together to my remote cabin. What we didn’t, couldn’t know, was that we were on a collision course with the end of the world as we knew it.

Story
When the black rain began to fall, it was a worldwide phenomenon that mystified everyone. There was little time to ponder the cause. Most animals died at the onset. While some humans were unaffected, others experienced a half-death of sorts, morphing into blood and flesh-crazed creatures with a desire to hunt the living. Climbing Fox Wattana of the Henomawi Nation claims responsibility for the black rain; he says it will will ensure the ultimate extinction of the United States government as revenge for robbing his people of their land. Cole "CB" Baxter isn't taking this lying down.

Story
Years after the outbreak of a mysterious pandemic, hardly any survivors are left in the quarantined wasteland of North America. Hunger and the menace of man-eaters are nothing compared to the ferals–those who were infected and mutated by the virus. The ferals have an unquenchable need to hunt and kill, and even a single bite will quickly transform human into a rabid beast. Two survivors, the pregnant Megan and her brother David, leave a deserted colony to seek a safer haven.

Action packed - revelations come to light.
As I began listening to Cadaver 6 it was hard to believe I finished listening to Cadaver 5 six months ago or that I listened to Cadaver 1 over a year ago. Within the first couple of minutes, it was like I had just finished Cadaver 5 as all the story details and characters came rushing back and brought me right into this episode.
In some series there will be a book that seems to be there as filler to fill a void until the next episode comes along. In this case Cadaver 6 is the furthest thing from filler. The tension felt by the characters is palpable and the action is nearly nonstop. Book 6 sets the stage for possible reunions and a greater understanding of what caused the Zombie outbreak as various characters share their knowledge and suspicions.
Along with being a key part of the series, this episode does an excellent job of setting up what’s to come next. Cadaver 6 is a must read/listen for fans of the series. Since I listened to the book it would be a shame not to mention Spencer Dillehay. Spencer has narrated each book of the series and does an exceptional job of bringing each character to life. His pacing and vocal range create a listening experience that is top notch.

Not Your Average Zombie Story
Fantastic character development. Gore descriptions that’ll make you cringe in the very best way. Evocative writing that puts you right in the throes of the apocalypse. This is truly an excellent zombie series. And the vibe is so different given that it takes place outside of the US. (Also the narrator does a fantastic job!) But my favorite part is his unique take on the zombies…I don’t want to spoil anything, but I promise you’ll find very few zombie stories like this one out there!

Circumstances Were Becoming More Intense
I was as mesmerized by book six as I was the earlier books in this series. I was so captivated by the story that I listened to the whole audiobook in one sitting. I felt that the darker themes that were introduced in this book added a more intense layer to the story. I found these themes thought-provoking and emotional. I thought Spencer Dillehay's narration was great, and his performance gave the characters their own voices and seem more real. I was gifted a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without any financial gain, to leave a review which included my honest opinions about this story.
