About this listen

From the best-selling author of the Mistborn series and Words of Radiance comes Calamity, the final book in the New York Times best-selling Reckoners series. What started in the instant number-one New York Times best seller Steelheart and continued in the instant number-one New York Times best seller Firefight now concludes in Calamity.

When Calamity lit up the sky, the Epics were born. David's fate has been tied to their villainy ever since that historic night. Steelheart killed his father. Firefight stole his heart. And now Regalia has turned his closest ally into a dangerous enemy.

David knew Prof's secret and kept it even when Prof struggled to control the effects of his Epic powers. But facing Obliteration in Babilar was too much. Once the Reckoners' leader, Prof has now embraced his Epic destiny. He's disappeared into those murky shadows of menace Epics are infamous for the world over, and everyone knows there's no turning back....

But everyone is wrong. Redemption is possible for Epics - Megan proved it. They're not lost. Not completely. And David is just about crazy enough to face down the most powerful High Epic of all to get his friend back. Or die trying.

Climactic Battles Second Chances? as Calamity Ends

When last we left the Reckoners their leader Jonathan Phaedrus had given into his powers. Now David Charleston, “The Steelslayer,” is out to prove that Epics can be redeemed. He and his crew of Epic killers travel to the city of Ildithia, formerly known as Atlanta but now located in Kansas (you’ll find out why and how), where a series of raids, chases, rescues, and stunningly destructive spectacles of both magic and high tech gizmos arises; comic book action at its finest.
This is a terrific ending to a fantastic trilogy and the final outcome was surprising. Like most of Brandon Sanderson’s books the writing is never boring and the narrator, MacLeod Andrews, gives another great performance. I would recommend this trilogy to anyone that likes this genre.

Another Awesome Story by Sanderson!

Sanderson is one of my favorite authors for fantasies, and I really enjoyed this series.

Calamity, as well as the other stories in the series, was well written, creative and fast paced, but it was the characters I fell in love with (even the bad ones). While David and Megan were my favorite characters, I loved the epics and their different powers.

Mr. Andrews did an amazing job narrating the story and bringing the characters to life. Between the plot, characters and narrator, I had fun listening to this story. Kinda sad this is the last in the series.

This story is well worth the time and credit.

The Best Kind of Ending to the Best Series

Any additional comments?

A phenomenal conclusion to my favorite series by Brandon Sanderson.

If you have finished any other books by Sanderson, you know he always ends his books with this climax that ties everything together and for a solid 20% of the book, it is just fast paced action. That is this ENTIRE book. I bet some people will say that it was rushed, I disagree, it was exactly what was expected and needed. Not to mention it fits in with the theme.

If you are reading this review, you have probably read the first two books, and I assume are on the fence about finishing the series. Do it. Just do it. Seriously though, it does tie all the loose ends together and answer all the mysteries. The ending is pretty much enough to bring a tear to your eye.

David and Megan are back, with David as the now acting head of the Reckoners. With his newfound position he is doing everything you wish the Reckoners had done all along. I guess the rest of the crew realized he has the brains and moxie needed to bring about the world they want and need.

I recommend this whole series to basically anyone. The whole book is a climax to the series, so you won't be able to put it down.

Brilliant narration for a truly satisfying conclusion to the trilogy

MacLeod Andrews delivers a powerful and captivating performance in his narration of the last book in the Reckoners trilogy. An award-winning performance indeed. Brandon Sanderson wrote a surprising and satisfying conclusion to the series. I expect we will be watching this story unfold on the big screen someday soon.

Not Bad, But Not Amazing.

I've really enjoyed the Reckoners Series. It's fun and extremely imaginative. However the third and (probably) final installment has been my least favorite.

I can't exactly pinpoint it. The setting was extremely cool, David's terrible metaphors were hilarious, the action was cinematic, but still it just didn't leave me with the same feeling the other books had.

The complaints I can name are few, but I do have some. The big twist as to the villain's identity was disappointing, as was the physical setting of it. The ending felt rushed. Also, many of the characters were just kind of "there" and not used as they normally are. While the "cussing" annoyed me in the previous books, I didn't mind it as much, but probably because I was so used to it.

MacLeod Andrews' performance was top-notch. He's done a fantastic job with this and with all of the Reckoners books.

Enjoyable to listen to

I love the performance, the story is good, the last page is satisfying. I was excited to listen all the way through, while I was listening to it. Afterwards though, I have a warm feeling "That was nice...but..."
