Scooby-Doo meets a romance novelist.

Another excellent book by Jeffrey Poole!

It's Scooby-Doo meets a romance novelist.

Yes, that does sound funny. Yes, this book has good comedy in it.

It's a Cozy Murder Mystery. It has heart, a killer voice, and two incredible dogs: Sherlock and Watson. There isn't much that could go wrong.

I love the characters of this book, and the voice of the author.

And let's not forget Bob Johnson's excellent narration for the audio book!

Unrealistic plot line, but great narration

I want to start this review by saying that I love this series. I have bought them all & enjoy the characters and narration so much. With that being said the story in this book is incredibly far fetched and hard to believe. Making Samantha’s death a homicide & trying to get us to be emotionally invested in a character we never met was a bit tough, but even if it’s accomplished the answer was so unrealistic and way too unrealistic to be solved as easily as it was. It took me out of the story completely. This book was a miss for me, but don’t let it stop you from listening to the others in this series!

Fantastic

I love this series. The characters, both two legged and four legged are fantastic and lovable. This book has to be my favorite so far. The author has created a great series and i would recommend this to all cozy mystery fans.

The narrator is fantastic. He does a great job with each of the characters voices.

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

Murder in Phoenix

Following immediately on the last book this story sees, Zack, the Corgies and his friends heading off to Phoenix to follow up on his 3:30 a.m. telephone call regarding his wife's death.
The characters are interesting, the dogs are adorable and although the story deals with some very heavy issues, including murder, the story is an entertaining, light hearted read.

Case of the Chatty Roadrunner

Zack and his friends, Jillian and Vance, are in Phoenix, Arizona to investigate the death two years ago of Zack's wife. They meet with the detective he'd hired and find that he has video of Samantha's car accident. Vance watches it but refuses to let Zack watch. He immediately notices something that once pointed out the man, whose car's cam made the video, also notices. At this point it is possible it wasn't an accident. When they stop for something to eat Zack is approached by a young man who turns out to be his wife's younger brother. They go to Sam's parents new place and there Zack lets them know what is going on. Now it's up to Zack and his two corgis, Sherlock and Watson, to uncover clues and follow the dogs lead to the person or persons involved.
Bob Johnson is a fantastic narrator who brings Zack and his friends to live and gets the listener totally enthralled with the story.

Book 6

Oh, I really liked this book. This is book 6 in this fun mystery series and yes I have read all of them. So why did I really like this book... Well for starters it helps to answer so many questions from the first 5 books. But don't worry if this is your first time reading this series you will not be lost. Jeffrey Poole does a great job of answering the questions while explaining them if you didn't know what the question was about. Another reason I really liked this book is that it was just the distraction I needed from this crazy shutdown. Sherlock and Watson are so great at what they do that you get all caught up in the story and soon your mind is no longer thinking about the shutdown. And lastly but by no means least is the great narrator Bob Johnson. His voice is wonderful as the voice of this series. His laid back style is so perfect for Zack. You get caught up in the story and are lulled into listening to just one more chapter. I was gifted this audiobook with the understanding that I would leave an honest review. Well, this is my own words and I am grateful for the chance to review "Case of the Chatty Roadrunner".

Scary thought

dogs, law-enforcement, private-investigators, Arizona, situational-humor, verbal-humor, amateur-sleuth, corporate-espionage

Zack, his Corgis, and two friends go to the Arizona city where his wife's fatal car wreck happened nearly two years ago. Someone had been phoning him in the middle of the night for days and then he was contacted by a PI with the info that it did not seem that the wreck had been a normal accident. The man in the car behind hers had dash cam footage which raised serious questions. So comes the who, how, and why investigated by people and solved by the corgis named Sherlock and Watson!
Loved it! Easily a stand alone.
Bob Johnson aces the narration with just the right touch that highlights the humor by downplaying the guffaws.

A Lot of Heart and Humor

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and any opinions expressed herein are my own.

This is the sixth book the Corgi Files series. It is a standalone book with no cliffhanger ending. While it is the sixth book in the series, you do not have to have read any of the prior books in the series to understand the events in this book. The author does provide summaries of any prior events he references to bring you up to speed. Having written that, I would urge you to start with the first book in this very enjoyable series.

In this book, we finally learn about the mystery of Zack's wife, which has been teased at for the entire series thus far. I also enjoyed learning about Zack's life prior to his move to Oregon to take over the winery. As always, I love the antics of the corgis Sherlock and Watson and the addition of the roadrunner. Although, it was a bit of a stretch that the corgis were able to find the internet cafe with a possible suspect inside when they were driving by it - but that's a minor quibble. The series has a lot of heart and humor with just the right amount of depth. I can't wait for the next one.

The narrator, Bob Johnson, is absolutely perfect for this series. He adds a lot of warmth and just the right amount of tongue-in-cheek sarcasm to the story which makes it an incredibly enjoyable listen.

Those amazing corgis

Once again Sherlock and Watson are able to solve the crime, but this time it is personal to Zack. What a fun story that keeps you guessing until pretty close to the end. The descriptions of the corgis with their behaviors, expressions and antics is so spot on. Looking forward to more Corgi File adventures.

4 and a half stars

Bob Johnson breathes life into the Corgi Chronicles. He does a really good job giving the characters a voice. The mystery itself is pretty good. I wasn't sure if I wanted to listen to this book because the past 2 books were incredibly silly. However this must reminded me of the first book. It wasn't trying to hard to be funny. The story was well developed and kept my interest throughout the book.
