Publisher's summary

“I just want to apologize, but I can’t get close to him long enough to work up to it.”

Back home from his first year of university, River Reid has been designated the pet sitter for his sister’s cat, Almond. He doesn’t mind. He’s got the summer to figure out whether he wants to keep going to a local college or accept a sports scholarship from somewhere with a little more glamour. But things take a turn for the complicated when River has to rush Almond to the vet...and comes face to face with the nerd he bullied all through high school.

"I’m looking for a fresh start. Not a replay of my 10 most mortifying moments."

Love is the last thing on Weston’s mind. A bit of a geek who has always preferred animals to people, Weston is biding his time interning for Sunnydale Animal Hospital in hopes of a great recommendation and some clinic hours to put toward his education. Once the scholarship offers roll in, he’s out of there - off to conquer a new place that doesn’t remind him of the merciless bullying he faced as a teenager. Giving River a second chance was never part of his plans...but plans are subject to change.

Welcome to Sunnydale Vets, where love is the best medicine, and all it takes to fix your problems is the willingness to roll up your sleeves and get to work. This heartwarming audiobook features mentions of mpreg, an awkward reunion, a laidback jock chasing after an ambitious nerd, and one very satisfied cat. This audiobook and every other audiobook in the Sunnydale Vets series can be listened to in any order.

Such a cute love story!

It’s amazing how enemies can turn to lovers once they stop being stubborn! Austin was able to portray a wonderful love story that started out with a rocky start. Loved the characters and the narrator!!!

jock versus geek

I liked that time changed things fir the better and people grew up mentally and physically. I enjoyed the characters' growth and their chemistry. Tenacity and perseverance paid off
big time with love. A great feel good with warm and fuzzies story. I enjoyed River's metamorphosis. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

enjoyed it

Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Were there any parts I found annoying: no
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: yes
Would I listen to it again: yes

Good pace, bit of drama and humor mixed in with the romance make for a sweet and entertaining ex-bully to lover story.
I liked that River recognized his bullying has consequences and that his victims may need closure to be able to move on with their lives.

Guillaume Dubois does a good job with the narration, bringing each character to life and adding to the overall audio experience.

A cat and kittens bring them together

The Sunnydale Vets series are a fun read/listen. In this one old enemies from high school meet again when River's sister's cat appears to be sick. Who does he find at the vet but the alpha he bullied during high school. The books are short and entertaining. Austin Bates does a great job weaving the story line. I'm not fond of Guillaume Dubois' choice of voices for omegas. I don't understand why he insists on making them so feminine. Overall I enjoyed the audio book.

Enemies To Lovers!

A great enemies to lovers story. River really tries to apologize and make it up to Weston for having bullied him in high school. I'm glad that Weston doesn't make it easy for him and really makes him work for his second chance. I really enjoyed watching their relationship progress throughout the story. I found it funny how River kept using his sister's cat as an excuse to keep seeing Weston until Weston finally agreed to speak with him. The narrator was great and I enjoyed his interpretation of the story. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audiobook.

fantastic story

Austin Bates' Cat's Got My Tongue is the third book in the Sunnydale Vets series. It's a second chance romance, an ex bully to lover story that is sweet and sexy and entertaining. River and Weston are fun - there is a bit of drama, humor and romance mixed together for a fantastic story.

Narration is done by Guillaume Dubois. Clear recording and great voicework. Very enjoyable.

River and Weston

4.5 stars! River is trying to make amends for his past. He has had a year away at college and I liked that he's recognized his bullying and decided to become a better man. He's determined to apologize if only Weston will give him a chance. Weston carries a lot of pain and anger from his treatment at school by River and his friends. What struck me first is how very young both of these guys are. Weston has just graduated high school and River has only put in one year at college. Both are growing up, parts of them are mature and other parts are still not. River's persistence with Weston, his sincere desire to fix his mistakes made him a good guy. I liked that Weston's determined to pursue his dreams without giving up on them as a couple. Even though things didn't work out for them exactly as they planned, River does what is best for Weston to accomplish his dreams. (less)

Narration is clear and I liked most of the voices that are used.
