About this listen

The Army of Earth is being sent on its first tour of duty. Its 50,000 proud and valiant troopers are the best of the best, full of hope for brilliant victories and spoils of war that can help Earth's humanity along in its development.

There's just one little problem, though. The operation's Geckho commanders view their human vassals as mere cannon fodder, good only for plugging up holes in their defensive line and shipping out to the space war's most punishing hotspots where the chance of surviving is practically nil.

How should the King of Earth behave in this situation? Disobey the suzerains' orders, draw their ire, and put his home planet under threat of complete annihilation? Or make a play for the freedom of humanity in a game of his own?

Crossover with Sector 8 book series!!!

Wow I never realized it will be crossing over with a Secotor 8 series books. I read them all, so when I heard the familiar names in this book referencing to other one, I was like wow!!!

Gnat and the precocious brat

Michael Atamanov and Andrew Schmitt continues display their talent to continue a series with unusual story and entertaining quests while not making the series seem to stall or feel like churning. Combined, their ability to create separate story arcs that are thrilling and moves the story forward is delightful.

Neil Hellegers' performance definitely acts like a magnet enticing listeners to purchase the audio version, in addition to the Kindle version, of the novel.

Crossover potential with Section 8?

Another Easter egg is dropped here in book 7! The powerful psionic girl that is destined to fight the young dark faction princess that she describes from her dreams is definitely Emperor Yorg’s youngest truth seeker from the series Perimeter Defense. She is described here as a young girl that struggles to walk with powerful psionic abilities which is exactly how the Perimeter Defense character was described and left at the end of the Perimeter Defense trilogy. With this latest Easter egg, I feel a series crossover is definitely coming. I’m now starting to wonder if the author’s other series are also going to come into play?

Update - after finishing the book it seems a crossover is pretty much definite. I’m glad I finished the three Perimeter Defense books before starting books 5-8 here as I have a better sense of what’s going on. It’s also easier to understand the overall nature and truth behind this universe as it was all explained in the last 20 minutes of book 3 in the Section 8 Perimeter Defense series.

One of the Best Series I have come across

I enjoyed this book thoroughly. I bought a hardcover and had already read it before the audio book came out, but I still enjoyed the audio book. The series is really getting exciting now, and I can't wait for Book 8 to be released in audio format.
