About this listen
This summer, Nathaniel Cavanaugh vacations in Lobster Cove to spend quality time with his kids after his estranged wife’s tragic death. Successful and well-connected, he is on the fast track to the highest legal positions in the country, but his family life suffers. After an accident throws Val nearly into his lap and costs her a job opportunity, Nathaniel surprises himself by overlooking her outlandish appearance and lack of qualifications to offer her a job as his nanny for the summer.
Valdosta McKinley wishes for an internship at a Paris Art Institute to use her newly acquired art history skills. She knows Nathaniel could never develop feelings for a girl from a trailer in a rural West Virginia holler - a lesson she learned the hard way years earlier.
Will pursuit of their professional goals require Nathaniel and Val to give up the dream of being a family?

A sweet story
What did you love best about Change of Heart?
I loved the opposites attract part. I loved how she felt she was dressing up and was so off the mark. I felt a touch of Pretty Woman in here.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Change of Heart?
When she risked her life to save Finn.
What three words best describe Skyler Morgan’s voice?
confident, smooth, pleasant
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes. I did laugh a few times. its hard not to with little children involved.
Any additional comments?
I found Change of heart a sweet romantic story. I liked the slow burn and how The characters didn't cross the line too much of the boss coworker line. I liked how they fell so slowly they barely realized it and didn't know how to deal.
It's an allover good story. Sweet, charming, a touch of Cinderella a touch of Pretty Woman ( no she isn't a hooker but from the other side of the tracks so to say.) There is an opposite attracts going on and The two kids you have to love.
The narration was ok but it was a bit choppy and it felt like reading instead of acting the story. Also, the characters didn't really have a distinctive voice and it was hard to tell who was who. Val did have a southern drawl or use southern words so sometimes you could tell it was her.
However the story was strong and in this case, I think the book may be better than the audio.

Country girl meets city boy!
I listened to the audio version of this book. The narration (by Skylar Morgan) wasn't one of my favorite, but it was okay.
This was my first book by Jennifer Moore and I had no idea what to expect. What I got was a woman who sounded and acted like a hillbilly trying to fit into a world she had never experienced before. She was dressed in a completely atrocious outfit on her way to a job interview, when she saves Nathaniel's son from an accident with a trolley car. It turns out that the accident that left her bruised and bloody may have saved her in a way. I'm pretty sure that her hopes of a career probably would have ended right there if she'd made it to the interview dressed like that.
She agrees to nanny for Nathaniel's children and a relationship begins to develop between the four of them. There are numerous scenes that are both funny and sad at the same time. It just doesn't seem like Val will ever fit in with the society she's been thrown at. Nathaniel 's heart may not care in the least. Can they actually have a life together?
I was given a complimentary copy of this audio book. All thoughts are my own.

A TRULY DELIGHTFUL STORY
Would you consider the audio edition of Change of Heart to be better than the print version?
I can't answer this question as I only listened to the audiobook and have not read the print version.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Each character was so adroitly drawn and depicted, I felt for each of them. The author absolutely nailed the snobbish former mother-in-law (for her, I felt just as the two main characters, Val and Nathaniel, did-ugh!)
What about Skyler Morgan’s performance did you like?
The voice is mesmerizing, and the diction is very clear. The narrator is able to portray each character so clearly that, as he reads, he becomes each character. He has an amazing ability to do different voices which really enhances the narration.
Any additional comments?
I lived in a small town on the coast of Maine for 15 years so I can say with confidence that the author has captured the essence of the fictitious "Lobster Cove" perfectly and brings it to life so skillfully, you can see it in your mind's eye. It was an absolute pleasure to drive along and become engrossed in this story; I was sorry when it ended.

A sweet romance
This book was so fun to listen to. I enjoyed the simple romance between Val and Nathaniel. I’m a big fan of Jennifer Moore’s books and this book like the others did not disappoint. I always love a good ending! I want to live in a cottage in Maine now.

Stilted forced performance distracting to the Cinderella story.
Stilted performance emphasizing every other word. No smoothness in conversation. Very distracting to the story. Story was too Cinderella like. Not the best. I like others more, maybe because I read them. I do like Jennifer Moore as author but this did not measure up for me.

Elementary but still cute
Skyler Morgan has a good voice but his cadence is off. At times a bit robotic. His voice changes are subtle but effective. What didn’t work was his complete failure at a southern drawl.
Jennifer Moore pulls off a story but the writing is not an A level. The story itself was interesting with the extreme class differences being the obstacle. Val succeeded in rising up by means of a college degree but social standards kept her from fitting in. Ultimately it was her judgement of herself that she had to overcome.
