Editorial reviews

This audio collection combines three live comedy sets from the late legendary George Carlin, one of the most influential and well-known comedians of the past few decades. Carlin is a live-wire performer, his demeanor oscillating wildly from calm and matter-of-fact to incensed and bombastic over the course of these electrifying stand-up sets as he levels his razor-sharp wit and on-the-nose insights at a wide variety of social norms and mores. In his lifetime, Carlin was an unabashedly confrontational comedian, unafraid to go where angels fear to tread, wading into contentious debates about abortion, racism, politics, and the like with no hesitations or regrets, and his monologues are fierce, inflammatory, and well worth a listen.

Funny Retrospective at its Funniest

The more things change the more they remain the same like cuss words, politics, and church. Thank God, however, there will never be another goddamn George Carlin – Shee--it!

Don't listen and drive

Parts of this are so funny, that if you listen and drive you may be in an accident. It is hard to see where you are going when you are tearing up from laughter. The name says it all this is Classic and it is Gold.

Carlin has always been my favorite comedian. The wit, the voices, the edge, it is all combined to make you laugh and think at the same time. There is a lot here on words and how we use them, and of course the seven words you can't say on tv. There is a slight bit on politics and he takes us back to our childhood with Class Clown.

Last year I listened to his biography "Last Words" which came out after his death. It is also a great listen or read.

Carlin is a legend.

Classic not so angry Carlin

George is later years Got very negative, these are three of his classic performances, language is what is... But these are edgy for their time & actually stand the test of time 30-40 years later. RIP George you are missed, and appreciated!

Couldn't get into it

What disappointed you about Classic Gold?

This just wasn't my thing. Too much profanity. I should have known better but I wanted something funny and other reviewers seemed happy.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Circling the Sun or The Nightingale
