Publisher's summary

He was a loner, a drifter, a fast gun whose aura of dangerous virility turned pretty heads all across the West. But if his reputation as an outlaw didn’t warn decent women away, his Comanche blood did. He saved Jessica’s life out on the desolate plains, then made her a willing captive of his savage desire. But even when he had left her behind to rejoin his people, Jesse found she could not forget him. Safe and respectable once again, she longed for her once-in-a-lifetime love, knew she would give up everything for just one more night of ecstasy with the man called Dancer.

Wonderful story

Madeline Baker is my very favorite author, and as with all of her wonderful stories, this one did not disappoint.

Just really awful!!!!!

I have read these western romances by Madeline Baker at least twice. I won't be reading any others. I found myself actually getting annoyed with the story - pretty much all of it.
I'm done with this.

Not my cup of tea

Any additional comments?

Was all going well, liked the story line, liked the narrator, then the author had to put in a scene where the hero cheats on the heroine, and she takes it lying down. Would have liked to see the heroine with a little more back bone, then simply just dismissing the fact that he'd gotten another woman pregnant, after the hero and heroine found there true feelings for eachother. I listened to the whole book, but after that scene I felt disappointed at the end. Never got my warm fuzzy feeling I get from these romance novels, you know, the happily ever after. I was left feeling he was a cheating a**e and she was a dumb idiot, and the relationship wouldn't last. Sorry, just not my idea of a romance novel.

Don't waste your money

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Better writing. Poorly developed story line with poorly developed characters. I have read more books than most small library's hold. I don't usually feel the need to write reviews but had to try and save someone else from purchasing this one.

Has Comanche Flame turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not necessarily. I don't read many in this genre but if something catches my eye in the future I might try it again.

Which character – as performed by Rebecca Cook – was your favorite?

Not sure. Couldn't get past the first couple of chapters. I usually won't read or listen pass the first couple of chapters if the book hasn't grabbed me by than.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Comanche Flame?

Oh Lord where to start. So many things wrong with this book. Chapter 1, when the main character (Dancer) slaps the girl Jessica. Yes, she was screaming and maybe hysterical but this could have been handled differently. When he tells her he will hold her as a hostage when in truth he has no intention of doing so. I really dislike liars. Chapter 2, when Dancer begins to force himself on the girl (Jessica) after holding her when she was having a nightmare. I say "girl" when at 20 she should be more mature but acts like she is 16 going on 13. This screen should be cut. If Dancer was an honorable man he would not try to force sex on this girl and certainly not at this time. She was just brutalized and nearly raped after watching some men beat, shoot and kill her beloved brother. The book describes her brother as a good and descent man that basically raised her. Why would she be attracted to a rough and dangerous outlaw 15 years her senior?
Only a childish young girl would think this was romance.

Any additional comments?

No, just don't waste your money.
