About this listen
For centuries many have pondered the prospect of an afterlife and feared what came to be known as ‘hell’.
In the near future, we map the elusive ‘dark matter’ around us, only to find out that it is hell itself, and it is very real…As the satanic President Razour attempts to bring forward Armageddon to prevent humanity repenting, the fate of us all rests in the hands of Cleric20, a hedonistic loner with a checkered past, and his robot sidekick, GiX.
An action-packed literary shock to the senses that mixes flights of comic fantasy with bouts of brutal violence. Mankind’s only hope seems to be having a very bad day.
Can Cleric20 halt Razor’s devilish plans after an experimental bioweapon deployed to kill him accidentally gives him superpowers? Has the Devil inadvertently created a hero who could actually stop him?
Little can prepare you for this spiritually-charged, cyber-noir thrill ride.

What a book!
Complete Darkness by Matt Adcock
(Narrated by Nick Cracknell)
I went into this book completely blind. It’s a sci-fi, cyberpunk novel with philosophical/Christian undertones. Totally not my usual go-to genre. But it completely kept me engaged from the start.
The year is 2242, set in a dystopian land called L2 (formerly London), Cleric20, his AI sidekick GiX, and his “Play Product” (like a gaming console linked to Cleric20’s brain are on a mission to stop the rule of President Razour.
Citizens of L2 have “Social Ratings” that are publicly visible. We have mutants, robots, Accursed Sons of Delusion, and even Twatbags!
This is without a doubt one of the most detailed, intricate, and original books I’ve ever read. It’s like Call of Duty meets Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy meets The Hunger Games with some Terry Gilliam thrown in for good measure.

Amazing narrator
I received a free audiobook and this is my honest review:
Complete Darkness is my kind of book. It’s an intense, DARK and fast-paced dystopian audiobook that blends action, sci-fi, and fantasy.
The story dives deep into themes of spirituality and morality, creating a thought-provoking (and occasionally a head-scratching) experience. While the plot is complex and sometimes heavy, readers who are like me and love a dystopian story, will appreciate its depth. The characters are fantastic (not always likable), the journey is wild, and the setting is easy to imagine if you’ve seen violent futuristic movies.
Footnote *𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘱*: It’s a unique listening experience for those who enjoy a darker story. It’s on the shorter side but the narrators voice is truly captivating, making it easy to really get into the world Matt Adcock created.
10/10 recommended. Check TW.
