Publisher's summary

Kendig ratchets up the action in her new suspense series!

Four years after a tragic mission decimated his career and his team, Cole "Tox" Russell is persona non grata to the United States. And that's fine - he just wants to be left alone. But when a dormant, centuries-old disease is unleashed, Tox is lured back into action. Partnered with FBI agent Kasey Cortes, Tox has to pull together a team to begin a globe-spanning search for answers - and a cure. As their quest leads them from continent to continent, it slowly becomes clear they're not just fighting a plague - but battling against an ancient secret society whose true goals remain hidden.

With time running out and opposition growing on every side, the key to everything may rest in an antique codex, the Crown of Jerusalem - but will Tox and his team be able to trust each other enough to break this century-spanning conspiracy of silence?

Good listen, some parts too descriptive

I liked this Biblical mystery. I had recently read about the revolt against Moses, so that made this book all the more interesting, plus I really liked that a lot of the battle was fought with brain power.
Some of the scenes were very descriptive, but it did make sense.
The narrator, Graham did a fantastic job putting different accents to the multiple characters!
I can hardly wait to listen to book 2 in the series!

Great story!

loved it! A little less introspection, a little more action would've been appropriate I think.

international religious thriller

The novel combines archaeology, religion, politics, military conflict, threatened global pandemic, and an impending romance. At times, it was difficult to follow the plot, but I admired the ambition and the components that flowed well.

Not the best or worst book I've listened to

Hard to get into it but got interesting as it went along but found much of the dialog repetitive and annoying for example when the main character kept interrupting a story told by another character telling him to get to the point which just made author not get to the point. Too many fight scenes describing characters beating each other up.
