Bjorn Lomborg argues that many of the elaborate and expensive actions now being considered to stop global warming will cost hundreds of billions of dollars, are often based on emotional rather than strictly scientific assumptions, and may very well have little impact on the world’s temperature for hundreds of years. Rather than starting with the most radical procedures, Lomborg argues that we should first focus our resources on more immediate concerns, such as fighting malaria and HIV/AIDS and assuring and maintaining a safe, fresh water supply - which can be addressed at a fraction of the cost and save millions of lives within our lifetime. He asks why the debate over climate change has stifled rational dialogue and killed meaningful dissent.

Lomborg presents us with a second generation of thinking on global warming that believes panic is neither warranted nor a constructive place from which to deal with any of humanity’s problems, not just global warming. Refreshing to read someone who is not minimizing climate science, but is also a strong advocate against climate panic. This is the kind of honest approach on climate the world needs.

This is now 2024, and apparently no one is listening to the false alarms on global warming. I only say this because our government has spent billions of tax payers monies on this and we are no closer to helping our world or people. We can only hope that the light bulb will turn on before we tax payers are all liing in poverty.

This author does a fantastic job of maintaining a well-balanced, scientific approach to global warming. Global warming is happening and we are contributing to it. But the fear and political pandering gets in the way of solutions. I love his ideas about how to solve global warming without having to cripple economies in the process. In fact he points out endlessly that cutting carbon emissions to drastic levels still doesn’t solve the problem anyhow. The concepts presented regarding tackling humanities more pressing concerns is also welcome. The research and development section regarding new climate technologies is very refreshing.

Global warming isn’t a hoax but the hysteria around it certainly is. The models are wrong, their advice is counterproductive and the future is a lot brighter than they claim. Lomborg is an intellectual giant. His honesty and clarity vis a vis climate change are sorely missed in most of what we hear in the media and from politicians.

More people need to read this

I just bought and started reading this book, so my ratings above are sure to change, most likely upward.
I am a bit of a fan of Mr. Lomborg, but I thought this would be a new book about a constantly evolving subject. I could find no publication date, but in the Amazon listing for the book, I discovered a publication date of 2007! That is at least 12 years ago, as I write this. I am very disappointed to realize that likely all the statistics used in this book are far out of date.
Maybe you can find the publication date for the book in the Audible listing. I could not.

An opening view of how we should be responding to climate change. The book is thoroughly researched covers all areas of the issue and how we can respond appropriately and effectively with the least amount of negative consequences.

Before I listened to this audiobook I was misconcept about what the better way to Deal with climate change. This audiobook it's remarkable for anyone who feels anxious about the Future of human r.ace.

Changed my view about the climate warming agenda.

I enjoyed the practical, no-nonsense approach to the suject by the author. The way he dismissed the overtime scare tactics of the global warming cult was refreshing, as was his conclusion that the continued ramping-up of the climate rhetoric in the media is having exactly the opposite effect expected by it's promoters.
Overall, the book offered a clear thinking approach that should give the any sensible reader confidence to challenge the climate crazies the next time they hear the sky is falling.
One slight disagreement with the author's position is his unsupported assertion that human-caused climate change is a real phenomena. Whilst this is far from settled science, it's a relatively minor issue - after all he would have little to write about if he thought that! It was an enjoyable book in any case and I look forward to reading more of his thoughts.
