Publisher's summary

In a stunning twist of events, Addison Riley is launched from the halls of academia to the spotlight of Supreme Court nomination. She's not entirely sure she wants the job, but the opportunity to make history ultimately trumps the trouble of having every aspect of her life examined by friends and enemies alike. Committed to the process, she's determined not to let her attraction to a beautiful woman or the threats on her life deter her from becoming the first female Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

Campaign advisor Julia Scott has spent her entire life working to make other people successful, and her pinnacle achievement was the recent presidential election. Now she's in charge of making sure the president's first Supreme Court appointment sails through the Senate. She's faced tough challenges before, but nothing like those posed by the infuriatingly focused Addison Riley, a woman who challenges her mind and awakens her heart.

Courtship-a better read than listen

I read this book and truly enjoyed it. I downloaded the audible years later for a long road trip with a friend who I thought would enjoy it. The minute it started we both knew there was no way we could listen to it. I listen to a lot of books and this by far is among the worst. For those who love Carson Taite like I do, grab the book it's worth the read. I did finally go back and listen to the audible alone later, hoping at some point Ms. Goodyear would find her rhythm... she didn't. Ms. Goodyear's inflection often contradicted the words written. Her attempted to give the characters in the book a different voice often failed, making it a disruption to the story. I found myself focusing way to much on the reuse of phrases throughout the story, just because of the narratives amplification of it. Often causing me to role my eyes in disbelief of the lack creativity in the author. Buy the book, it's worth the read. I loved the story and the characters you will too.

Couldn't finish it in audio. . going back to print

I tried. . I really tried to listen to this book all the way through. . but I just couldn't do it. That's no reflection on the story itself (I'm going to buy it for my kindle instead) but I can't emphasize how much I disliked the narrator. Simply awful.

Terrible narration.

Any additional comments?

Felt I should place a two-way bet on the narrator, and whether or not she won the race!

Narrator made the story difficult at some points.

The story itself was enjoyable but the narration was bad. the voice actor made all of the women sound snobby and mixed up accents. She sounded like she was telling or speed reading. If I was the author I would demand a new narrator, one that does her writing justice.

Madam Chief Justice

Addison Riley is Dean of one of the most prestigious law schools in America. Life is turned on it’s axis when she nominated to be the first woman Chief Justice if the US Supreme Court. Julia Scott is the political consultant who got the president re-elected. Tasked with getting Julia confirmed their immediate attraction is a fiery flame. A political thriller and romance. Great author.

Good story, dreadful narration.

The plot was interesting, the story engaging but the narrator was mechanical and did the characters no favors.

Fine story. horrible narrator.

I've read the story on my Kindle and only bought the audible version because it was 2 dollars and I wanted something to listen to at work. the story isnt my favorite but it is interesting in its own way.
The narrator however took an okay story and made it unbearable. Her Addison voice was emotionless in every aspect of the story. the few times she got excited abiut the story it sounded like barmitzma boy jacob from snl. By far the worst, however, was the sex scene because I was torn between ramming my head into something solid and laughing hysterically. Her tone was so nutral through the scene and when she exclaimed, "Oh god, I'm cumming." in that flat tone it was just... wow.

OMG IS ALL I CAN SAY

Love love love when women are given power. Im fairly new with audible but I'm in awe at how you can give different tone to the character and express the character that practically brings them to life. The book was great with just enough sexual spice to have me keep going with want to find out if Julia was gonna come to her senses and let go. Truly a great book thanks.

Sarcasm abounds

The narration was dripping with sarcasm throughout the book. A few times I thought I heard 'I can't believe I'm doing this' in the narrator's tone. The story was a bit flimsy and now I almost wonder if the whole thing was written just for the pun in the title. It would make sense given the gratuitous snark and sarcasm, only most of which was the narrator's doing.

It's not really awful. It just needed more polish.

Bad performance hurts the overall enjoyment

The story is OK. but I got the sense that some of the episodes are taken from a movie or TV show that I've seen before. The story progressed in a good pace and the legal debates over issues is interesting and well depicted. The dialog was amusing st points and written in a realistic way.
