Publisher's summary

This collection features two cozy mysteries by Meredith Potts including:

Killer Injustice

Two years after the murder of Sadie Cambridge, Hope Hadley is still reeling over her friend's death. When Walter Clayton is put on trial for the murder, Hope believes that at least justice will be served. So when Walter is astonishingly acquitted, it sends shock waves through the entire community.

But Walter's freedom doesn't last long. The next day, he is found murdered.

This is one case that Hope wants nothing to do with. Unfortunately, when members of the Cambridge family become prime suspects in Walter's murder, Hope begins investigating in hopes of exonerating them.

Murder of a Restaurant Critic

Everyone's a critic. But sometimes words cut deep and the wounds turned deadly.

That's what happened to Claude Giraud, the top restaurant critic in town.

He had run afoul of the wrong restaurateur, and it is now up to amateur sleuth Hope Hadley to figure out which one.

Short and sweet for the perfect cozy murder story

This set has two Hope Hadley murder mysteries that are short, fun and full of colorful characters. Hope is an amateur sleuth who seems to be roped into helping her brother the detective solve murders since she played a police detective in a TV series and she also seems to find herself knee-deep in the investigations anyway. The dialog and narrative, from Hope's point of view, are snappy and succinct. I like that you don't have to wade through lots of extra details and false leads. Hope and her brother interview lots of characters who have motives for murder before inspiration hits and they make an arrest. In Killer Injustice, Walter is acquitted by a jury of murdering his girlfriend and the whole town is shocked. But "justice" is served when Walter is soon found dead and several people are more than happy that he is. In Murder of a Restaurant Critic, it is hard to think of anyone who may make more enemies than a restaurant critic for a small town newspaper. When Claude is found dead, his old columns may hold the clues to who might hate him the most. As in all of Meredith Potts' stories, there are lots of food references to make you mouth water. I enjoyed the narrator in this series much better than the one is some of the other Potts' books.

a good mystery

I enjoyed this book. I was a fan of the Mystery and what happened. The only thing I disliked was the way religion was discussed.

Great stress reliever!

I love a series that takes a little different path than the other books, and Meredith Potts gives us Hope Hadley. The first book in this collection is Killer Injustice. Normally Hope is ready and willing to start investigating where she is wanted, but in this case when Walter Clayton is found innocent of a murder he is thought to have committed is found dead, Hope is not eager to help out. What she does find though are a lot of disgruntled people who want him dead and as they become suspects, Hope begins to search for the real killer. I love when an author veers a little from the formula that has been working for a series, and I think this story was fabulous. It gives a little different look at society and their reactions to our court system, as well as gives Hope a different path to find a killer. I enjoyed the banter with her brother Daniel, he is a great character!

I have to say, I loved Murder of a Restaurant Critic. Maybe because it revolves around food, it just hits the spot. Hope finds herself immersed in finding the killer of critic Claude Giraud. Teamed up with her brother Joe, they search out and find the culprits, interview and lead us to the one and not so inconspicuous suspect! I love their banter, the search and their relationship. It's always fun to come back to Hope, remember that she was a star in tv show and is acting on what she learned in her portrayals! Love this one, and will remember not to give a bad critique to someone who has cooked for me!

SL Crawley does a great job with her narration, brings all the character alive and makes the listen entertaining!

Enjoyable

Killer Injustice
This is more than just a cozy mystery it deals with the emotion of the lost of a friend, and then killer is acquired. Then he is murder, the family of Sadies are the suspects, Hope is drawn in to figure out what happened. These are always delightful to listen to, and to figure out.
Murder of the Food Critic
Someone didn’t like the food critic, and murder was the result, but which one. Brother who is a cop and sister ?Hope try to eliminate and find the killer. These are always enjoyable easy flowing plot to figure out. Given ARC audio which is good for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Cozy Mystery Two-Book Collection

I really enjoyed these stories, although wish they could have been a little bit longer, with more investigation and more suspects to make it harder to know who did it. The narration was good.

Favorite!

These are my two favorite Hope Hadley stories I've read so far. I really like how close she and her brother are, but it cracks me up how much they can grate on each other's nerves in fun. It's not a perfect relationship, so it's more real.
Hope is a strong woman that isn't afraid to speak her mind and do what she thinks is right even if it goes against someone else's opinion. She's pretty awesome.

Another cute, well-written & enjoyable clean cozy

Killer Injustice, another cute, well-written & enjoyable clean cozy mystery, the sixth in this series.
Murder of a Restaurant Critic, another cute, well-written & enjoyable clean cozy mystery, the seventh in this series. I was given an Audible copy of these books & am voluntarily reviewing it. I was impressed and enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator S.L. Crawley. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
