It's okay

I'm a little disappointed in this series. I love her descendent prophecies but not this one. I sorn really feel the connection between to main characters for Michael to profess his love liked that to her. I feel as if she didn't do anything much for all those guys to fall for her. She's weak and I don't know if she's smart or stupid lol. Sorry it was just okay for me on this book and I might not even read the rest.

COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER

The book was good. The person reading it had a monotone voice. She didn't even try to separate the characters. It made the whole listing experience torturous.

The narrator was awful.

I couldn't get through the first paragraph because the narrators voice was so awful. Monotone almost. Just awful.

PLEASE redo narration!!

First off, I have read this series a few times - it's a great overall series and I love reliving Michael and Claudia's journey to love. I love Mary Ting and have enjoyed reading other books of hers as well. Unfortunately, I've had to mostly switch to audiobooks so I can get stuff done while still being able to enjoy my favorite past time. When I saw these on Audible Escape I was overjoyed! That is, until I started listening - then I just wanted to cry. I don't have the time to just sit and read at this time and found that listening to this is just not an enjoyable option.
I really hate writing negative reviews & hate to say anything bad about someone else. However, the narration on this book desperately needs to be redone (PLEASE!). Her voice is so flat & emotionless, it’s like asking Siri to read it to you; that is not an exaggeration, nor am I trying to insult or just be intentionally cruel, it’s truly the most accurate description I can think of. When she says the name of the next chapter, it literally sounds like she’s getting ready to give you bad news. I listened to this all the way through but when the book ended, I was honestly relieved. Also, I downloaded the book as well, just to read along a bit when I had a couple minutes here or there but that bothered me even more - she didn’t even read it word for word, she embellished & mixed words around. This story gets 4.5-5 stars for me, but the narration was so bad it brought my overall rating for this to 2 stars (and honestly, that’s being generous). Mary Ting is a great author, she needs a narrator who reflects that.
** Mary I beg you, PLEASE do yourself a huge favor and get the books in this series that are read by Amanda Friday re-narrated with someone new! You are a wonderful writer but you're doing yourself a great disservice with this narration. You should be more well known than you are and I fear this will only hurt your chance at obtaining the larger following that you deserve. **

The story is very good, but the narrator kills it.

What did you love best about Crossroads?

I switched to the Kindle version. I like the story. It is worth reading. The narrator was VERY hard to listen to and I did not enjoy her reading at all. She read too fast and her voice was irritating. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I had to stop listening to this audible version based on her reading.

Would you be willing to try another one of Amanda Friday’s performances?

NO - I will never listen to Amanda Friday again. The narrator was VERY hard to listen to and enjoy. She read too fast and her voice was SO irritating. There was no change in voices with the characters and it was hard to tell who was speaking (Man or woman - angel etc.....).

I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I had to stop listening to this audible version based on her reading. I finished reading this in the kindle version and enjoyed the book.

Before I made this purchase, I read that the narrator was bad. I usually don't let that stop me. I should have just purchased the kindle version only.

Don't judge Mary Ting based on this narrator. Her books are very good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No - I could not listen past the 4th chapter. I really....really tried to listen. I noticed that Mary Ting is now using Emma Lysy as a narrator. Emma is getting good reviews. I am not going to give up on Mary Ting's books. I plan on listening to Emma read as soon as I finish the kindle verson of Between.

Meh

I think I could like the story, but it sounds like it was written by a high school English teacher who wishes her students wrote/ talked that way. It is written from the perspective of a teenage girl and teenaged girls just don't talk the way her main character speaks. Heck I'm a teacher and I don't talk that way. It's like she wrote a cool story outline then went through and improved the vocabulary the way we teach kids to do with a six traits rubric under word choice. I could probably handle it if I were reading it but to hear a professional blunder through with improbable vocabulary and limited affect just isn't doing it for me. I'm going to try to finish on my kindle cause I think there's potential.

Good storyline, not so great narration.

I had read the Kindle book a long time ago and enjoyed the story. I figured that I would enjoy the spoken version as well.
The Narrator sounded so uninterested in the story that she was reading.
I gave her 2 stars as she had very clear pronunciation which helped me to hear all the words.
I dreaded the chapter announcements and almost did not finish listening.

Terrible performance

The story was pretty good, but the performance was awful. Her voice was flat and monotone throughout the whole thing. Atrocious.

Narrator sucks.

The narrator ruined this book. She stops after every sentence. Every. Single. Sentence. Do not buy the audible version.

The book itself is good. Predictable and sometimes annoying. I would recommending buying a print version.
