Publisher's summary

Sass Luckett is cursed. Not because her truck keeps breaking down, her bank account’s on life support, or she’s constantly dodging packs of dire wolves looking for a witch-sized snack. No, Sass’s family is literally cursed! They must stay and guard their small town of Rattler’s Run from the Crossroads, the Bermuda Triangle of the prairie.

If Sass and her sisters flee, the uncontrolled magic will wipe the town straight off the map, and the world will be overrun by the unnatural critters that emerge from the cataclysm. Not to mention that there’s a couple generations of Luckett ghosts hanging around the attic, just itching to point out how she’s failing.

Sass dreams of a completely different, completely normal life far away from Rattler’s Run. But that would require money and magic she just doesn’t have. And then, some fast-talking, big city researchers offer her a fat paycheck to play tour guide on the Crossroads. When all hell breaks loose - literally - Sass realizes they’re not tracking normal wolves at all. The strangers are actually government agents investigating the magical shenanigans in and around Rattler’s Run, and somehow, they think Sass is the key to restoring balance in the Crossroads.

There’s only so much cursing a witch can take, and Sass is running out of friends and patience. It’s just a matter of time until she’s shit-outta-Luckett.

5 stars

Crossroads Burning by Layla Nash is an entertaining an interesting paranormal mystery. The characters are well developed and so is the mystery. I like that the three sisters are strong and independent, but I resent the way they are constantly put down and forced to prove themselves. Towards the end of the book, I was rather offended on their behalf when they were treated like criminals. I do look forward to seeing how there story continues to develop in the next book.

Worth the commitment....

No doubt, this is a looooong book, but it is an amazing read. It is well written with characters to love and a well developed plot line. This fantasy book is going to stay with me for life. The only reason I gave it a four instead of a five was the ending. Everything ties up neatly at the end without a cliffhanger, which was great, but the main character didn't get a lucky break at the end. It left me irritated on her behalf. That said, I would still recommend the book. It was such a ride!

This is a fantastic story - it grabbed me from the start and didn't let go. I really enjoyed the characters & world the Author has created. The narrator was wonderful bringing the story to life. I look forward to more in this series & from this author

Great!

Crossroads Burning is a unique and awesome take on magic and mythical creatures. I've read plenty of books on magic and even more on creatures such as werewolves, but none were quite like this one. There was plenty of action and unexpected twists to keep the reader/listener interested throughout.

The audio quality was excellent.

I received this audiobook for free and willingly left my review.

Excellent Paranormal Mystery

The cover caught my attention and I thought this would be a light paranormal story with witches and magic but it is much more complex than I had expected. The world building is excellent and the characters development is well done as well. The story sucked me in and kept me captivated from beginning to conclusion.

Narration was excellent and brought the story to life.

I felt for the heroine and became really annoyed at how the people in town treated her and her sisters. It was a pretty wild suspenseful mystery/adventure with some twists/turns and a touch of romance that left me wanting more.

I definitely did not like the way the sisters are being treated by the “Government Agents”! They are heroines but being treated as criminals and some which are criminals are being treated as victims!

The conclusion was not at all what I was hoping for but since this is only the first book in the series I’m hoping things will eventually be sorted out for the best.

I’m looking forward to the next book. There is a lot that needs to be straightened out.

Nice start to a series

Good story about witches, family curses, and bloodlines. Narration was really good, Caudill deserves high praise for this book, as I feel she elevated the story. Only gripe I have is the authors description and of the men. Ex's are always assholes, even though the smart witch fell for him, all the new guys are either built like the rock, stoic, complicated and uber intelligent, or a combination, well.... I guess this is fantasy, but just describe them and move on.

Good story

Narration was good on this one. Narrator's pacing and dialog was good. Overall story was more than I was expecting. It is different than many paranormal worlds. Also romance is not the center of this story. The world building and characters were well developed. The storyline was unexpected. The beginning took a while for me to get into. I finished the book which resolves the primary issue in the plot but finished with the expectation that more books would follow and address unresolved issues and the relationship. I'm mot seeing a second book available. I am a bit disappointed that the series isnt expanded yet.

Excellent start to awesome series!!!!

I can’t wait for the next one! I knew I would like this book but I was pleasantly surprised to discover after just a few chapters that I couldn’t put it down. I was expecting a witchy cozy mystery that we’ve all read and forgot about the minute it was over. That is not this book! This book is a unique magical world with interesting, well rounded characters that I came to care about very quickly. I worried, laughed and cried for, at and alongside these characters. I will absolutely be reading the rest of this series!!

As for the narration, it was EXCELLENT! Eleanor Caudill’s performance brought this book to life! Each character had a unique voice and all were well done, not forced or odd sounding.

The author and narrator are both new to me. I plan to read/listen to their other books until I can get my ears on book 2 of this series. Overall, awesome story, beautifully told. I have a new author, narrator and series to add to my favorites lists!
