Publisher's summary

In the secret city of Sobek, Domin Thorne is making his way as the newly chosen semel-aten, the leader of the werepanther world. He aspires to make sweeping changes - he's set goals for himself and the people he chose to bring with him, modeling his reign after that of his friend, Logan Church. But Domin may have set too lofty a goal: His normal leadership style isn't working.

While juggling a homesick Crane, a moody Mikhail, a bullwhip-wielding Taj, servants with murderous intentions, a visiting ex, and a mate on a dangerous goodwill mission, Domin has to figure out his new role alone. He also must determine how to deal with a conspiracy, all the while falling hard for a man who, for the first time in Domin's life, reciprocates that love. Whether Domin is ready or not, Fate has stepped in to teach him a lesson: Internal threats are just as dangerous as external ones.

Domin's story after the Sepat

So this is Domin's story after the Sepat and very little of Yuri and their relationship. Somehow, someway Jin had more page time than Yuri and that annoys me. Yeah we get answers when it comes to the werepanthers and everything is tied up nicely but what do we really know about Domin and Yuri's relationship and their future goals as a couple? Are they even married or hand fasted or something? Do they want kids? Nope, no news about that and very little but the basic info about how their relationship evolved from when we left them in book 3 to where we find them in book 4. Also I have to say that this wasn't one of Sean's greatest works and his accent for the Egyptian characters was abysmal.

The best

If you could sum up Crucible of Fate in three words, what would they be?

Love, Love, Love

Who was your favorite character and why?

Domin thorn, love his attitude and his love for Yuri!

What does Sean Crisden bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Voices, characters, he is one of my favorite narrators, he could turn a boring book into an incredible audio

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The moment when we think Yuri and Jin are dead and then the scene after are pretty moving

Any additional comments?

Worth every penny

Domin and Yuri's story

I was so irritated with Jin and Logan in the last book, that I stopped reading it. HOWEVER, I decided to try this book, and I am so glad I did. I loved the story, the evolution of the characters, and the relationship between Domin and Yuri. Even the secondary characters are well developed making for a great story. I read this book and also listened to it on Audible. I loved Sean Crisden's narration as he brought a whole new dimension to already colorful world. I have even forgiven Jin and Logan and will go back and finish the last book. Don't mind me, I am just a sap for happy endings! Even though this is a standalone book, I really think you need to read the preceding books to experience the world the author has created. Don't miss this one. It's well worth your time, and well worth a credit.

Oh Domin!

This book took a very different twist and is in Domin Thorne's view, after the battles of the last book. He is now semel-aten living in the secret city of Sobek. I was excited to get to see his story and also several of the other characters as well. Then in an amazing twist, we get more Jin which of course will bring on Logan. There is lots of action, some twists and I adored seeing Domin back in action.
Sean Crisden is back as narrator and I absolutely love his narrating. You feel like part of the book and action. He not only reads but acts out the story with his voice. Each character is clear, and man oh man does he make the sex amazing! I highly recommend this series ( it does need to be read in order)

FINALLY!!!!!!!!

Thank you Audible!!!!! I have been waiting on this book like FOREVER!!!

This is the finally book to the Change of Heart Series by Mary Calmes, one of the best m/m paranormal romance series ever written... I totally loved it!

This is Domin's story... FINALLY!!!! We get to see Domin with Yuri, and not chasing after Corin... OMG!!! Yuri is so laid back in this... no more the shesuru, be his now the seka (or heart) of Domin Thorn!!!!

If you are listen to this, well I am sure you have listen to the rest of the series... if you haven't listen to the rest of the series...welll then...better start there.

Oh... let's not forget the AWESOME narration of SEAN CRISDEN. When it comes to m/m romance, Crisden is in a leauge of his own. I loved it... I love all the shift and voices...the gruffness of the lead characters and Logan's voice was perfrect from book 1 to this one... I recongized everyone simply by the way Crisden narrated.

Hands down... the long awaited book was so worth the credit, the buy, the sale... it is a must have for fans of the series. A Must HAVE!!!!

Nice addition to series Sean does amazing job

Most of this book is Domin learning about his new role as semel-aten and making wide spread changes to the way things are run. There are some pretty intense battle/kidnapping scenes and some moving relationship building between him and Yuri.

We get to see a bit of Logan, Jin and Crane, but most of the book is Domin, showcasing his growth as a leader, a man, and a mate.

There is no way you could understand or appreciate this book without having read the first three, and even having read the first three, it is tough to keep all the “foreign” phrases and terminology straight. I highly recommend reading all four books in a row to fully appreciate this book.

Before this, Yuri and Domin had gotten together, but it was a tenuous relationship. Some of the best, most emotional parts of this book are Domin and Yuri cementing their relationship with one another. Mary writes excellent sex and there are some scorching scenes in this story.

The politics of the changes Domin works toward are fascinating, but very complex. In many ways this is a departure from Mary’s works in that Yuri and Domin are not the exact center of this book, but an integral piece. This really feels like a book that ties up loose ends and focuses on Domin and the entire were-panther world more than anything else, his relationship included.

I loved this book as a giant epilogue to the series, but wished for more of the heart-wrenching, tender relationship scenes between Yuri and Domin.

While it is not my favorite Mary Calmes book, nor even the favorite of the Change of Heart series, I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it to anyone who read the first three books.

Audio:

Sean Crisden did a great job with all the “foreign” words, the dialects, the different characters… his voice for Domin’s doctor was fantastic!
I really enjoyed listening to this book in audio format. I think, sometimes, the new words were hard to understand in audio format and I found myself sometimes looking to the book to see what he was talking about, but if you only ever heard the entire series then the words would make sense to you. Since I read the first three books, I had to look some up while listening to the audio book for book four.

I give the book a 4 of 5 stars, the narration a 5 of 5 stars
